So guys I'm wondering what gyro I'm going to guess this has been asked already so shame on me for asking again. Any how I would like to know if any one has the 770 on theres and if they are flying it hard and having no issues. Like per say blowing out the tail gears. I was going to run the 611, but if the Auroras tail gears will be fine with the 770 I'll run that instead. Just a change in equipment thats all.

As far as the Spartan Ive never used one of those and would like info on them if any of you feel like saying if its a go on this bird or not.

Well guys thanks ahead of time for any and all info

Well I think I can fly it..............UH OH OOPS heres your heli.

I replaced all my 611's with Spartan's and not looking back. The 770 works good on the Aurora as well but the Spartan has the edge.

Spartan vs 611 (no experience with 770) = Spartan.

- more consistent pirouette rate, esp. with changing main rotor disk load or with a loaded motor
- holds better in sideways loops and stuff like that
- smaller, lighter
- works with unregulated 2S (8v)
- works with any t/r servo - currently using 8900G / 9256 / 9251
- firmware can be flashed by end user

No servo extensions needed if mounted in the rear position on the Aurora.

I would consider the Solid-G if I were you as well. I can't comment on the Spartan, as it's the only one I haven't flown, but eh Solid-G beats the 611 and 770 hands down in my opinion. The Spartan may perform as well, but tweaking settings at the field either requires a laptop or a blue-tooth enabled PDA and the purchase of $150 bluetooth adapter. Of course, once you have it set up properly there really is not need to keep tweaking. My only point is that if you are considering switching gyros, at give the Solid-G a look.

Issue with oil leaking through the connectivity port?

I plan to use the Spartan 760 on my R90s and on the Aurora (when delivered here in (continental) Europe, my preorder was out nearly two years ago ). Is there an issue with oil leaking in the case of the gyro? Is there a plug that comes with the gyro to close the connectivity port? Do you just stick tape on the opening? The manual says "Important: Do not mount the gyro in locations where it may be subjected to high levels of oily smoke, fuel, or other liquids." I am running on CP 30 and there is quite a bit of oil in the area of the gyro on my helis.

I'd say go with the spartan if can justify the price difference. IMO the adjustments made via the computer are not values that you would "Tweak" at the field. The adjustments that you normally tweak at the field can be made via the transmitter.

The 611 is a great gyro, also.

Although I've help set up a 770, I've never flown one. Set up was a pain. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it just right.

I'd rather be flying

I now have two Solid-G gyros (one for the 600n and Aurora) with the G-view for setup. I truly like the way the Solid-G feels over the GY502/601. The Solid-G has a crisper / snappier feel.

It sounds like I've got stake in the Solid-G - I don't. But I do think the Solid-G is the gyro against which to compare all others. I personally don't know anyone whose flown the Solid-G that has switched to anything else. I do know many people, however, who have switched to the Solid-G after flying it, including two who were previously using the Spartan. Last FF I let a VERY capable pilot fly my N9 with the Solid-G (he had the Spartan on his N9). He went over to Cajun Heli's and bought a Solid-G immediately - no joke. Within an hour he was flying his N9 with the Solid-G. It really is that good. Of course all the words in the world aren't enough to convince some people. You just have to try it and see for yourself.

But, I'm sure the Spartan is good too.

Ok

So it would seem so far that a few are saying the Spartan and a few are saying the solid G. I have been running the 611 on my 600 Like I stated above. Was going to run that on the Aurora but getting input on others is why I've posted this.

So first question then the solid G isnt that the awnser to the 611 and can you run this with the 8900 tail servo or is that what it comes with, also will it handle 8v. Guess I could go and check out the gyro online here.

Second question is about the spartan,I'm liking the fact that this gyro can handle the 8v this is nice. Why is that someone is saying that it cant be around the oil would like to know that as well. As I'm sure with any of our gyros its not the greatest idea to get them soaked with fuel and oil etc. Cant see that being a good thing for them. LOL Any how is the Spartan having issues being back there getting hit with the fuel any issues on this???

Third question it would like to be that no one is running the 770 or I should people that have responded to this post. Why is that is it to hard on the tail gears.

Thanks for all the responses and keep it coming guys the more I get the better.

Well I think I can fly it..............UH OH OOPS heres your heli.

Another vote for solid G. I also have a friend who started with the Spartan and went back to the Solid G on the Aurora and prefers it.

Matt and I bought 600N nitro pro's. Matt is using the 611 and I am using the Solid-G. I flew Matt's heli, for the first time, and didn't like the way the gyro felt. We even tried to adjust it to feel more alive, but that was it.

That's when I realized what was happening to me. It was the feel of the Solid-G. To test this theory, I flew my 600n 10 flights, then I switched to my X-Cell SE that has a 601. WOW, what a difference. The 601 felt dead, I had to use more stick travel to make the tail move, and it seemed slow!

Needless to say, I am in the process of replacing all of my gyros with the Solid-G gyros.

But like you said:

Personally I'm in favor of the Spartan gyro. Small, light, super easy to deal with and holds the tail with a death grip. Even when you screw up in fast inverted backwards flight (bogging and missaligned tail) it will hold until the last breath. I can't say the same from my previous 611 nor a Logictech 6100 I used to have. Piruetting rate is much more constant and predictable than with a 611 and yet it feels progressive just as the 611. Some other gyros feel a little differently and need the pilot to get used to the behaviour.

I personally never tried a Solid-G so I can't compare but honestly I can't see what the SG can do more than a spartan for example. Having two components isn't very attractive either.

I have a spartan Iam waiting to try but Iam really liking my solid G. I need to try the spartan so I can compare them. How does the spartan handle vibration?

In my opinion pretty well. When I had the logictech, I had to soft mount it pretty well to get rid of a drift and when I installed the spartan I didn't had to do squat. Obviously there are limits and if they are crossed the tail will drift (usually nose left, tail right) indicating the problem. I never had that problem myself though.

Guys,
I'm with the Solid G all the way. This gyro has out performed the Spartan for me in both my Aurora and Vibe 50. I'm using the Solid G with stock settings for Trex 600 for the Vibe and Stratus for the Aurora. It's very easy to adjust using the G-view if one wants to fine-tune for a particular feel, no software or computer needed. IMO, the Solid G handles vibration better, no drifting in any condition, super solid hold and stop on piro's. For me, the performance difference was easily seen compared to the Spartan, Logictech 6100, Futaba 611.
