Swashless

This weekend i was out flying my 2 weeks old converted stratus -> Bobbo Watts Startus, with a new Ys91Sr and 8717 servoes.

suddenly, when flying backward inverted, the heli starts jumping 5 meters up/down and sideways.
I hit the Thro.hold, after a couple of secend, the heli was flying straight, i fired up the engine, and it jumps agian, I hit the hold, and the heli hit the ground....

I found out that the Stratus has converted it self to a swashless Stratus - all three swash servoes, was unpluged in the receiver

Damage:
Mainshaft
Head axle
Flybar
Tailboom
Landing struts
Tailbox clamp mount
Blades
Gear in 9256 servo (had just bought a new 251, but havnet mounted)
One servohorn on the 8717
broken the srew in one of the canopystuds
Crown gear
V-blades

I geuss it's to soon to try Swashless system for me

I glue ALL of my servos and other electronics in with zap a goo. It is like a rubber and can be peeled off when you want to remove the servos from the receiver.

I'm sorry to hear about the Stratus crash. It always hurts because it's such a great ship =( I also always shoo goo in all plugs into the receiver, gyro, regulator and govenor. Shoo goo is much better than hot glue gun because when you want to remove the plugs later it's much much easier and cleaner with no marks on the receiver or plugs.

Best Regards,
Bub

Hi!
Sorry to hear.
I always take a small neadle with a thin thread. Pull the neadle between the servo conectors and around the reciever 3-4 times. Take a small amount of CA in the 4 corners over the thread and it will never go apart.

hi
The crash was cheap

I have now secured the servoplugs with a strips.
I dont like 100%, i think the strips could damage the cable..

Ok!
Not what I ment! Use a sewing thread instead. This could damage the servo wires when vibrations come.

I totally agree... don't do that. A little vibration and that thing turns into a little saw and could definitely cut the wires. Just shoo goo it and call it a day. It's not permanent....peels off clean and fast but very secure...also waterproofs the connection. Stop screwing around and just go to the home depot and pick it up! =)

Hi

I have just change my way to secure the plugs in the reciever.
I'm using a single wire/cable, put through all plugs, around the reciever, bind a not, put the not into a fueltube and a strip over the fueltube
I like this better then the Strips....

Now I don't think a would loose any plug anymore

Actually looks from those last photos your channel 9 is on the way out...

When binding many cables together, make sure it cant move, else if it starts to move when you do tictocs etc, the sheer mass will pull cables out of the receiver...
