My temps are pushing 110' for the motor(Scorp 2221-8) and 130' for the batts (3s Evo25 2170's) at 5 minutes mild sport flight. My Jazz 40-6-18 is just slightly warm.

I switched to an 11t pinion and upped the t-curve to 95% flat(the manual suggested 75%)and that seemed to help a little. I'm thinking a 10t pinion and flat 100% t-curve may help. None of my other helis get this hot.

Is this normal?

Any opinions/suggestions?

PS: I am thoroughly impressed with this heli. It is nearly as stable as a 600.

How tight is your gear mesh and belt?

I'm running the scorpion -8V2 and after 5 min it's fairly cool.

I have an Scorpion -8, CC35 ESC with a seperate castle BEC. Im sport flying 7 minutes on Xcite 2200mah packs and nothing is hot. The pack is warmer than anything. Ill have an infred thermometer by the weekend

I'm not sure why, but the problem seems to be clearing up on it's own. I flew six packs through it today at flat 100% t-curve. Everything was significantly cooler. (Also flew three packs through my Logo 600 and two through my Trex 500.)

It was a good day!

Wonder if your gear mesh was too tight and is starting to wear in now. I am running a Scorpion 8 and 45a ESC and they are getting luke warm with a 11 tooth pinion. Gonna switch up to a 12 tooth soon and get my headspeed up around 2900.

V-Barred for life!!!!
