I've been putting mine together as well and is almost ready to fly.

It really balances tail heavy unless you move as much forward as possible. I had to mount my ESC under the bottom of the nose and put my GY-401 where the ESC usually goes. Also, The battery is mounted as far forward on the tray as the canopy will allow and I still had to add about 1/2oz of lead.

However, I had an 9257 tail rotor servo so I took it off and mounted a 3153 instead. This isn't a 3D bird so it should work fine. Equipment wise, even after adding the lead, I actually lost 2.75 grams. I'll try to get pictures soon.

One thing I asked in another thread is about the decals. I bought the Desert painted version and it only came a small sheet with a few decals. The parts section of the manual shows a large sheet with a variety but nothing like that was in my kit.

Just wondering what others ended up with.

Is the elevated tail gearbox part of the kit?

Nice nice!

The elevated gearing is come with the kit for my non painted version and the painted version should be the same.

For my unpainted version, the decal come with one big piece. Inside, it has total of 4 different types of theme (If I remember correctly). Near the end of the user manual, there are samples of themes I can choose.

BTW, is the paint painted outside or inside? (looks like outside)

TT mini cobra

Well,
The tail conversion comes in the kit, and regarding the decals, mines came with a small sheet of stickers. I will draw myself a snake at both sides.

Mine went together pretty fast. About three nights of piddling around a few hrs. You could do it in one sitting if you turn off the TV.

The body parts are already trimmed out so all you have to do is drill the screw holes and mount them up. I ended spending more time as I had to take the right side body back off, take my old tail servo off, and replace it with a lighter one to get the balance worked out. I had placed the gyro up front but that didn't work as it was affected by the speed control being so close so I had to move it back. I ended up with a whole ounce of lead in the nose.

If you want to install the shaded canopy they include it'll take a bit longer as you'll have to cut out the the original windows. I didn't do it because there was no way I was going to risk the paint job on the window frames. BE SURE to lube the grommets on the canopy or it'll be a fight every time to get the canopy off and they will tear and fail right away. I already need new ones.

I got a few flights on mine last night. I wasn't prepared for the wind vane action the fuse adds as I've never flown a full fuse before. It was a little odd but once I realized my gyro wasn't failing I relaxed. Other than you could tell the extra weight It flew fine and was really cool.

For some reason on mine I picked-up an odd vibration. At times you couldn't clearly see the right side missle assembly as it was vibrating so much. Also, on spool down the heli started doing a funky chicken dance and I thought it was going to tip over. I added the black paddles and tail blades that were included in my kit so I need to take the head and tail off and check the balance. That and I think I need to tame the head speed. Its just not very "Scale" and I noticed my componets get a bit hotter than before.

Sorry I don't have pics yet.

Later,
Mike

Not Much

Well, mine as well took just about two nights, You will only need to take out the tailboom and place the angled tail rotor system.

The painted fuselage comes ready trimed and cutted unlike the clear version where you have to cut and trim.

as you know, the real body parts come in two halves, and it shows in the manual the you have to use small supplied screws to hold the fuselage tailboom parts together. I did not use the screws, i used a clear tape to hold the tailboom upper and lower parts and also to hold the buttom of the fuselage together and i had a very good results. I used the screws only to hold the fuselage from the sides.

Also, you have to cut out some part from the original frame but this does not take that much time.

I tested it, it was great

The best thing i liked about it is that after you do the conversion, you can then change the fuselage anytime you want with the other colors.

good luck

very good,i hope to do the conversion soon but for now i want to put the heli through its paces,i flew it today and it flew great exept it got a bit gusty and the wind flew it away from me for a couple seconds,

i fliped it into an ivert flight and fliped it back to right side up and it was very responsive,i think i need to set the gyro alittle better though,it did kind of scared me for a second,

the gyro didnt hold as good as i expected it so the tail got blown around,no biggie though the heli did fine so is back home in one pice,so far im liking it but i wouldnt want it for 3D but we'll see
