Actually, I have $289.37 wrapped up in the Super FP. However, $210.00 of that amount is for the main/tail motors, main/tail ESCs, servos, receiver and HH gyro. I look at it like I would have to purchase those electronics for any ARF or kit heli anyway. The frame, tail boom, tail motor housing, main shaft, main gear, head components and blades only total $79.00.
Still though, that's alot of cash for an FP heli and yes, that money could go well towards a CP heli, which is more capable than an FP. However, I just love tinkering with these FP helis. What started me towards my quest of FP perfection was an employee at my LHS who once told me that FP helis weren't true RC helis and are pretty much junk and can't be flown in any wind at all. I have always been one to buck the trend and guess what?....that guy at the LHS has checked out some of my online FP videos and now doesn't seem to have that negative attitude towards FP helis . The amazing thing is that this guy doesn't even fly helis! He does have 35 years of airplane experience, though.
Anyway, I guess we all have our passions. I'm now researching my next project...building a 450 size FP heli . I know...I know...why? |
