e-E-Sky Honey Bee- Lama- Belt CP- E-Smart > DX7 and swash problem again..

I have the swash leveler from helidirect. I used it to level the swash at low, mid, and high points. I at mid pitch (0), I used subtrim to level all 3 servos. At low and high pitch (-10 & +10) I used travel adjust to level all 3 servos.

My problem is when I give forward cyclic and use the pitch/throttle stick at the same time. When at high pitch with forward or backward cyclic applied, moving the pitch down the elevator servo doesn't seem to move all the way down and when at low pitch with forward or backward cyclic applied moving pitch up the elevator servo doesn't seem to go all the way up. When no cyclic is applied and moving the pitch up and down everything is perfectly level, with both fast and slow movments.

Any thoughts?

searched and searched and found...

http://www.ee.nmt.edu/~furrball/hob....php?name=setup

This link is a HBK2 setup explained by TJinGUY and it pretty much got most of that wierd swash interaction out. I am going through the rest of the setup, as I did the above with a new model setup in my DX7. In setting up this hbk2 (for the 5th time), I found that the above link showed me something I was never doing and that was leveling the swash with the washout.

Things that make you go hmmmm...

Thanks TJinGUY...

Man I should really finish that write-up. It needs the tail setup finished and lot more pics put in.

Glad you found it useful

What about servo's?

Crappy Esky that wont run true anyway?
Im running CNC head and it is sloppy at the swash due to esky servos. Well not anymore I ripped them out they flew fine but dont look for precision in them.

292mm blADES ALSO.

Extreme production Yellow plastic blades (I know they suck)
Looks like these are coming off!!!

Bat Wing tail blades ($1.98 and hate how long they are)
Extreme Turnbuckles (Don't help tracking for sh!t)
HS65MGs on the cyclic (Too big to put the Blade Balls on! )
Extreme 43 tooth pulley (Does it help? Who knows, I got a 401)
GY401 w/S3154
Super Skids ($12.99 and is the best upgrade to me)
300HDX 3800kv (10tooth pinion, never more then warm after 8 mins)
Castle Creations 25 (Gets Hot witout the Bec below)
Castle Creations 10amp Bec (Stops the ESC from getting hot)
DX7 w/2650mah Energizers (waiting on voltage regulator for mod)
AR6100e v1.6

Just bought TOOLMAN18's hbk2 with the purplie stuff (wonder if I can smoke it? )

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t441072p1/

Going to put the carbon frame, carbon stiffener, and carbon battery tray on it. If that don't get the tracking right I'm going to dig a hole in the back yard, all the way to china, and return these tardz back to the manufacturer.

ok..lets just see....

Plastic head...it won't last forever...will get loose, nature of the beast..

65's on a King? Man, that's like putting a V-12 in a VW, I woulda (and did) go with something with closer dims to the originals..I use 3114's. Makes fitting the link mod so much easier...but anyways, those should be ok.

Ditch the plastic blades. They are junk.

Turnbuckles don't help tracking???...see comment immediately above, that's most likely your culprit, not the turnbuckles. I can get mine to track to about half a blade. If you had the CNC head you could most likely get them dead on and stay there...but again plastic head..it will hold...for awhile.

Batwing AND the 43t? Most of us run one or the other here. Personal batwing fan here, if you're concerned about blade clearance to the ground, swap out the vertical fin with a T-Recks one. The fin hits the gound before the blade will. This is the only way to go IMHO.

CC 25? With the HDX 3800 you should be in the 30A range, that's why you're seeing the heat issues. Might want to go up a level. I use a Dynam 30A. The BEC will help, but I run a BEC with mine anyways.

401 on a HBK? Man....you are a nut..or a nut with money. Again the V-12 comment applies here as well. I run a 240 and that's expensive enough.

OK I'm done "commenting", but if you're running with a basic T-Recks setup, c'mon face it you are, you should realize the HBK isn't a T-Recks. If you're looking for Align performace from stock plastics it just won't happen. You will get lucky sometimes, but it won't last, not with the plastics. If you have this much money wrapped up in her, go with a CNC head and swash setup, this may do justice to your setup. The HBK is smaller, therefore, it's always gonna be more "squirelly" than a 450. That's just physics, we can't change it much. Don't take this the wrong way, you have reported/told about some issues on yor blade/swash tilt, ect. earlier, and that is a concern. I'm just trying to let you know now that as much as you do to the HBK platform (in its current state), it will never be a Recks. There are others here that have and still are (me included) trying to squeeze as much out of the platform, but it is still and always be a HBK. I'll admit it, I wish it was Align, they seem to get things nicer, but the HBK (for what it is) is not a POS by any means....You just have to realize it is what it is....

Again, this was not a "poke" or a "slam" at you, please don't take it that way.

Best Regards,

JC

FRAME:
I just bought this frame new and it has like 10 packs through it. I got the tracking to be perfect for one flight when I decided to go low on head speed and was 0% 50% 75% 80% 85%. I found out today if i get it the tracking real close, then as I am flying I tap the skids on the ground the tracking will go perfect till sudden pitch inputs are given then they go off track again.

HS65MGs
The links fit in the servo horn real tight. There is no slop here.

TAIL:
I will order a trex vert fin. Thanks for that info

HEAT ISSUE:
After I put the CC 10a BEC, I have no heat issues. The ESC would get hot without the motor connect and circling both sticks for a minute. Now the hottest thing after a pack is the battery pack itself. Motor, ESC, and BEC are barely warm to the touch.

GYRO:
Well I bought the GY401 used for $90 and the GY240 were only $15 less. So thats the reason for that, plus it has the end limit setting on it.

SETUP:
I have worked out every issue I have had. All, except the tracking, was due to my bad setup. I have learned alot from all of you and have progressed my setup abilites substantially over the last few weeks. I have two issues left, the tracking and getting some more batteries. I am currently looking at this setup:

http://www.readyheli.com/Kong_Power...25-3charger.htm

As for the tracking, well I bought Toolman18's HBK2:

http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t441072p1/

It has the purple CNC head and tail unit. I will put an AR6000 in it bind, setup and fly it, to see the comparison. If it tracks flawless with woodies, then I will order the $50 head for my current HBK2 and be happy. I appreciate your comments and concerns and take no offense to anything you have offered. I am almost ready for a field to fly in. I'm close to Mills college and will try to fly at the soccer field there next week, as I should have 4 batteries, 2 heli's, and my handy dandy DX7.
