I bought a used heli, identical to the one I've been flying for years. Pretty much identical but the power switch was opposite of my other bird regarding on/off position. You guessed it, I left it on for couple of weeks.
Is the battery ruined? Or, can I still charge it and use it?

Battery is most likely toast. I did that once, and brought the battery back, but it would only give about 1/10th of rated amps. Never trusted it back in a bird.

Check the voltage. If it is still around 6.8 you may be able to save it. Try recharging it with Duralite charger if you have one. Watch it closely, should take less than 5 hours to charge. Then check with a 1 amp load. Voltage should be about 7.9 with l amp load. If the voltage starts dropping while checking under load (dramatacally falling), battery probably is toast.

test results

Did a little test with other battery got 8.30 volts no load, 7.49 1 amp load.
The battery that was left on and fully discharged was charged and read 8.26 no load and 7.5 droping rapidly to about 7.04 before holding steady under a 1 amp load.

(I've never gotten 7.9 v under load with 3 different Durilite batteries from new. Always around 7.5 with a load after full charge. I put that down to a little miscalibration on the durilite load tester...maybe, as I have flown with them for years up to a half dozen flights before getting close to the 6.9 V limit)
