Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Loss of tail control

I have had loss of tail control events on two different helis lately. Seems that when helis get further away the tail quits responding and when the heli gets closer in the tail works again. I am flying a Futaba 9C PCM radio for both of these helis. I am also using Futaba 401/9254 gyro/servo combos on both. Any suggestions on what is going on here?

Best wishes and good safe flying.

just throwing out there...

could it possibly be a loose connection?
gyro resetting?
red light on at all times?

doubt its a range issue as you would lose over all control.

I think a loose connection is unlikely since it is happening in two different helis. However, it could be something going on in the transmitter.

oh i get it...

two helis therefor two 401, two Rx etc so same scenario...indeed it now points to the Tx.

I thought you tried same (1) 401combo on two helis.

indeed unusual.
