Finalized, it i'm going to run the 2221-6 with 55a esc.

What pinion should i run to get a good 3500 RPM

also, what pinion does the kit come with?
(I want this machine to have that "pop"

From the headspeed calculator at readyheli

Seems like from what I've read most people are using an 11 tooth pinion with that motor.

The kit comes with a 14 and a 16 tooth pinion.

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

If you haven't purchased it yet, I'd advise the 8 motor. The 6 motor only get you like 3 minutes of flight time. Also, the 55amp ESC is way too big and heavy for a 450 size heli. That ESC is for like a 600 size electic.

I already ordered it, The reason why I ordered such a powerful motor is because i am into that hard core 3d stuff

Lots of people use the 55A esc so it should be fine.

To much power is never enough. That 6 motor at 3500 should rock, sounds like my kinda heli.

I'm using the Kontronik Jazz 55-6-18 ESC, it's dam small and light, smaller then scorpion 55a ESC.

I'm now running the 2221-6 with 11th on my Beam. Power is crazy at 85% throttle, hard 3D :]

Did an amp draw test, the peak amp draw is around 47amp.

Flight time is around 3mins 30sec ( voltage straight after flight no load reading is 11.1v )

After flight... the motor and esc is only slightly warm. But the ThunderPowerV2 gets very hot....

I find this motor and esc set up is perfect. Just that the batts cant really take it...

I asked because I would like to know if your kit has the tail slider mechanism assembled. If so, when you get it, could you take a close up pic of the assembly from the end the bronze slider tube goes in from?
Thanks,
Jimmy

Advantage Hobby gives you a nice discount if your a new user to their web site. I got like $20 bucks off on my new Beam kit when I got it with them.

Wrath- Thanks for the gyro!
Um.. I bought it from a member on runryder, costed me $230... New in box.

One of the reasons why i did not order from advantage is that they wanted me to fork out $50 in shipping on my $800 order, $50 that was ment to be spent on spair parts. any that the customs will rape me in fees when it arrives at my door.

I'd say advantage has the best price right now.

its 3 in the morning, i've been sitting here since 9pmm building this heli

OK,FYI make sure that the slide sleeve(part 42-1418, tube with a thin head) has plenty of thread on it and the head captures the bearings then. A couple of guys have had the pitch slider come off in flight.

The kits shipping from Advantage have this problem addressed and the whole slider assembly comes assembled.
