Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > CG Correction

Hi. I have a major cg problem on my heli. I flew it (R30) with 150g mounted just in front of the bat/rx. It is now perfectly balanced and my pitching problems have gone. (Easy solution to months of problems!!!)

I have never seen anyone complain about needing to correct the cg on a raptor before, BUT i also read that most people seem to use a 1700 - 2000 mAh battery. Is this for cg or for battery capacity ? I use a 4,8v / 1000mAh battery and I get at least 500mAh out of the battery on my cycler after 5 flights. I don't want to use a larger battery as they are a pain to keep charged/cycled if you don't need the capacity. The 1000mAh battery is only 110g and a big 6v 2000mAh battery is probably 250g. (an educated guess) This explanes why i need weight in the nose.

Has anyone made an extension to mount the lighter battery further forward to minimise the weight required ? If anyone has pictures, please e-mail them to me or post them on this forum.

Thanks

I am using a 1400 mah NiCd and I didn't need to add weight to the nose. Is it a totally stock R30? If everything is exactly the way it should be and you need some nose weight to get the correct CG, then I wouldn't worry about it. The important thing is that your CG is correct.

My heli is stock except for a weston pipe. The pipe is close to the cg so won't make much difference. If i check the cg by picking up the heli by the flybar with an empty tank it was level and with the tank full it tilted back. So i added weight untill it was tilting slightly forward with a full tank and a little more with an empty one. The total weight added was 150g. At the field i added 50g at a time to see the difference and it was quite noticible. I would rather move weight than add weight but for test porposes i went and flew and wow what a difference. I test flew with each 50g increase. I will do more testing, i have possibly added just a little too much.

It just makes sence to build a platform to get my existing battery as far forward as possible to minimise the weight gain. I noticed quite a large drop in performance with the extra 150g

Thanks
