e-Electric General Discussion > 400 size flight times??

Hi Guys,

I am hoping I can get a general concensus on flight times for this size of helicopter. I currently have a slightly modified Blade Cp that gets approx 15-20 mins of flight time which includes general flying, hovering & aerobatics (rolls & loops).

I have had my Cp for a couple of years now and am thinking of upgrading to the next size but I really like the flight times I get with the Cp.

So, my question is if I can get anywhere close to 15-20 minutes with a 400 size helicopter?? I am a little bias for the Blade 400 due to the luck I have had with my Cp but would definitely be open to other brands.

I am more of a RTF guy but with a little coaching & help on a particular helicopter and setup I know I could build it. I have been building & flying R/C stuff since the early 80's but due to family and work now I don't have the time to be intimately involved with all things electric helicopters so that's where I would need some help with the education.

I also don't have the ability to pluck down $1000-$2000 so I'm probably limiting my options but unfortunately I just don't have a choice.

In the end, I might end up sticking with my Cp but before taking any chances on buying something I won't be happy with, I thought I would ask the experts here for the much needed help.

Thank you in advance,

Scott

There have been pollls about this and for most of us we get around 6-8 minutes on a decent battery. Of course this depends on motor, pinion, battery and style of flying.

I had a Blade CP....I never got more than about 12 minutes max on it...how the heck are you getting 20 minute flights? Hell, even my nitro only gets about 15 minutes on a full tank with header......

I have yet to read about anyone making this claim.

Is it possible? perhaps.
but definitely not doing 3D.

Thanks guys for the replies. In the back of my mind I thought below 10 mins was the norm but I just wanted to double check.

When I pull the trigger I guess I'll just buy a few extra battery packs.

If it wasn't for being able to fly off my deck in the back yard I would go gas but I don't want to give up the convenience & no clean up.

Thanks again guys,

Scott

My belt-cp will fly 15min with a 2100mah mega power pack this is just hovering around the back yard. In idle up I can get about 12min. This is taking about 90% out of the pack. I guess it depends on your flying style, and heli setup. I always time my flights at 8min if I'm out at the field doing hard flying.(no 3d) Even then I have plenty of power to hover for a few mins afterwards. If your doing any hard 3d I wouldn't expect much more then 6min.

I had a FP Twister which I fitted with a 1350mah 2s Li-po, that went for 20 mins. Give me a Blade 400 and ill make it go for 15 mins at least!

Eat, sleep, 3D, crash, repair, repeat...
