I believe this has been up before but I can't find the thread. What kind of blades do you recommend for a gasser to shoot smooth video? Symetrical or asymetrical, size and material?

a commonly used blade (to replace what comes with the actual heli kit after you put them into the dirt) are:

NHP 800mm White High Lift Blades

Pretty much the standard replacement for the GSR..

you can get them at Airfoil and other places... cheaper then reordering the Expensive JR blades that come in the kit..

As vwired says - NHP 800 is a good choice.

NHP 800mm are good blades... but,

NHP 800mm White High Lift Blades

just curious.... what exactly is an NHP "High Lift" blade? What makes it high lift? I flew a few sets of 800mm NHP blades when I had gassers and didn't notice any more lift than any other 790-810mm blade.

I think because they are symi-symetical or flat on the bottom is why they call them "high lift" blades. It is debated the pros an cons of flat bottomed blades.
I worked with both the same mm size on some large helis and didn't notice any differance.

Pros an Cons - Kinda like fat-bottom girls

hmmmm I've never known the NHP 800mm blades to be semi-sym. All the NHP 800mm blades I've flown and seen are symmetrical.

Maybe since the only reference to them being "high lift" that I can see is on Airfoil's site means Airfoil has them specially made for them to be semi-sym??

But back to my question... what exactly does high lift white NHP blades mean in terms of lift numbers? any data??

Maybe white blades make more lift than black....

from what i remember - the blades on my GSR have 6º of washout and that is why they are considered 'high lift' you can see the curvature of the blades when you look down them.

washout doesn't add lift, it changes the attack angle at the tips, which helps with tip stalls, and gives a more stable feeling. Is the chord larger then other 800 blades? I've never seen the GSR blades.

Rhett... I can't fly, luckily the HC Profi Can!

yes the blades that come with the GSR do have washout and they are white, but they aren't NHP blades. They are made for JR by HI-Products.

Actually the blades that come with the JR GSR are made by JR. They are 790mm with 2 degrees of washout built into the semi blade.

The NHP800's are a typical 800mm blade's except the thickness of the blade in thinner than some which creates less drag and more lift.

When they were placed on our site they were one of the only 800mm blades on the market but 4 years later there are several. Yes lots do use the NHP as a replacement for the GSR blades with spacers with great results.

The website is not a comparison that they will lift more than a semi 800mm blade. We found for the people wanting to use symmetrical blades that NHP's out performed every blade we tested. 3 brands.

If you can afford it use the JR blades. If not the NHP work great up to about 13lbs. of payload. The JR blades work well up to 16lbs. of payload but we advertise the heli with a 12lb payload to be conservative.

Hope this helps you.

We are updating the site now with the two new mounts/ parts and descriptions. We are a MS dealer now also which allows us to offer the 800mm night blades and 107mm tail night blades for the GSR.

thanks for the clarification john. When I talked to Horizon a couple years ago they told me that the JR blades were manufactured by HI-Products.

That's a lot of good input. Thanks all. The NHP seems to be a good choice, but if the JR ones perform as good, or even better, I'll go for them since our dealer already has them in stock.

for those interested, found some NHP 800mm blades here for $119 and looks like free shipping.

http://zoomshobbies.com/ProductDeta...?productID=8206

I think Airfoil has 800mm NHP's for $129 plus shipping.

May want to check if they are white and in stock? Guess the $1000 price didn't sell it hun?

We do have them in stock if you need them.

I'm guessing the local JR blade price wasn't what you thought it would be?

Thanks
John

ok so now I am confused.

in this post John you say that the blades you sell are NHP Razor Pro's

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t362043p1/?highlight=NHP

Which is exactly what the blades are in the link I had above. The blades are the same except for maybe the color.

Are you claiming white blades make more lift than black? confused??

confused??

I couldn't agree more. More lift than any other symmetrical blade we tested. Not against semi's. Thought you knew that?

Hope this clears it up for you.

that wasn't what I was confused about Johnny. I was confused because you were claiming that there is some distinct difference between your white version NHP's and the NHP's I posted a link for.

My confusion comes because as far as I know there is ZERO difference between the two except the price and color.
