That's awesome! How did you 'glue' it to the IC board? Align uses think double back tape...but don't think this is ideal.

that's not glue. It's heat transfer paste. The red zip tie secures it to the ESC. The zip tie is not that tight as it's easy to damage the boards on the ESC.

You can buy Thermal Epoxy though which is a glue with excellent heat transfer properties.

Double sided tape is the WORST idea for securing any heatsinks to an ESC. The tape acts as in INSULATOR and will not transfer much, if any, heat away from the ESC.

It would be better to have no heatsink than to stick one on there with double sided tape.

Here is another CC35 modified with heatsinks. It's in RR User 'Boidman"'s gallery:

You can go to Radioshack or any computer supply store and pick up very inexpensive heatsinks that you can cut up to custom fit your ESC. That's what boidman did. I don't know what type the one I have is. I just happened to stumble across it one day at work in the junk bin...

Oh, and the two ESC's I've showed you are nearly identical to the CC45

That looks great! I'll go back to Fry's and poke around again for heatsinks!

Heatsink!

OK, I know it's overkill, esp since I tried it out and it works great in PHX, and never got more than warm, but I 'installed' a heatsink onto my CC 45. I call it the CC 45HT (for High Temp!) I'll post pics tomorrow.
I used heat transfer epoxy-pretty easy actually...just hope I never need to take that bugger off

Problem Solved!!

Just an update-
I did eventually mount a heatsink to the new CC45 using special heat transfer epoxy from Fry's electronics-It really came out sweet...looks TOTALLY pro, if I don't say so myself:

I also mounted the heatsink side underneath the main gear/fan so it gets much better airflow now too.

I have been flying the heck out of my TREX typically in the late mornings in PHX when the temps are about 110 ish. So far, no sign of thermal cutouts, and the ESC NEVER gets hot-I'm always able to touch it after a full flight of hard flying in idle up. Batteries get hot, motor gets hot, but not my ESC!!! Glad I laid the cash down for that one.
