Scale Model RC Helicopters > Want to start a scale 50 titan or century raven!!!!

Right now I have a Century hawk pro. I want to buy another kit so that I can start on a scale heli. I want to go with the raptor titan because my LHS carries parts for the raptors and I just like them. I also would not mind the century raven. I want to be able to fly a MD 500 or 530 thunder tiger body or century funkey hughes 500e. I like the funkey hughes 500e better. My first question is which heli frame will be the easiest to scale up, the titan or the century raven. Second, out of the two which scale body does either fit best in, with the smallest modifications. Lastly give any more feedback that will help with my purchase.

Well I know the 50 Hughes 500 E fits a Titan. The pitch arm which is the biggest problem with a Raptor has no issues here. So if you want a Hughes and have Raptor parts at the ready then go for it. The Hawk / Raven should fit almost everything.

I can tell you that the pre-painted Funkey 500's are awesome! I have the green and white D model. The paint work is first class and the body comes VERY well packed so it can stand up to the shipping.

I installed a Sceadu Evo 50 in mine and it was very easy and straight forward. I had to trim 18mm off the fuselage tail boom (detailed in the manual) to fit.

It came with a set of generic instructions and model specific directions for the Sceadu, Raptor and Century mechanics. With the pre-painted fuselage, a lot of the steps outline in the generic instructions had all ready been done.

I added nav and anticollision lights to mine and that was the hardest part. I recently weent to a fly in and brought home a first place trophy with it.

either one of those machines you decide on, the century fuse is the way to go. Like Larry says, the instructions cater to all three machines ans the woodwork is even marked for each mechs. the prepainted ones are top notch quality and very very pretty paintjobs. i have seen the tt fuse up close and was not impressed at all. the glass works seemed very thin and the paintjob appeared to be sprayed without any prep work to the fuse.

I think I will probably go with the raven because of price and that I already have a hawk pro and they look similar other than the CCPM control system. Will the CCPM control system in the century raven provide any problems or will they fit fine inside of the hughes scale body?

One advantage of the TT MD530, if you decide on Raptor mechanics, is that they are designed to work together, and everything bolts together very easily. With a Raptor that was already flying in pod/boom configuration, I had it in the fuselage and flying with less than 10 hours of work.

IMHO, the TT landing gear looks a lot better than the Century/FunKey 500 gear (if you like high skids), and the profile of the front window looks better to me as well (the 'E' model).

The disadvantage, as Copter Doc noted, is the paint is marginal on the military MD530. The civvie bird looks pretty good in pics, but I haven't seen one in person. I haven't had any issues with the fiberglass itself, and mine's been flying well over a year at this
point, and had a couple of landings hard enough to replace the gear. If you can paint, or know someone who can, they can turn out nice.
