I'm buying a dx7 outfit that comes with the ar7000 2 pc. rx for my 450(outrage). I'm anticipating fit problems with the rx, so my question is, can the ar7000 work without the little wired remote antenna module, or shoud I just sell it right away and get the ar6100? thanks

Nothing is ever so bad that it can't get worse

it will not work because the reciever will not connect to the transmitter without both I tried it on my blade cp once. they sell a version of the DX7 that comes with a ar6100 that should work alot better for you. it also comes with servos that would be very nice in your 450

Historically, there have been some problems with the AR6100. I have avoided this one. A firmware upgrade, about a year ago, is supposed to have corrected the problem.

The AR6200 is excellent and still has the remote reciever (which I like-some don't).

The AR7000 will fit in a TREX 450, I do not know if it will work on an Outrage (I have not had the opportunity to examine an Outrage yet).

Good luck to you and have fun with the new machine!

Don't be afraid to use the AR6100. It works perfectly. I use one in a T-Rex 450 SE, Phase 3 F-16 EDF, Hobby Lobby Learjet 45 EDF, eflite Tribute 3D, foamies, etc.

The new ones have the update and should have the V1.2 sticker on them.

I just check out the outrage heli, looks nice, never heard of them till now...so many 450 type helis out there.

happy flying

The new AR6100 should have a v1.6 sticker on them, this is the current version with the quick connect feature.

Some good experiences, some bad (none mine):

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread...ighlight=ar6100

http://www.helifreak.com/showthread...ht=6100+lockout

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...AR6100+lockout+

Take the above with the proverbial grain of salt. People's experiences differ, and it is always interesting to try to sort out brown outs from application problems (I do not think it was appropriate for the person in the last thread to install a parkflyer reciever in a high speed, high performance, cf airplane) from plain old user error to actual radio problems.

I am a big Spektrum fan. My only reason for my original post (and this one) was to provide you with other information that you might not have seen.

I have been flying Spektrum almost since it was introduced (having four Spektrum or Spektrum equipped radios now).

I had a good friend have multiple problems with the AR6100 (it was, by the way, the earlier version which has had the issues corrected).

I opted to avoid the 6100 and go with the 6200 for the security of an actual second reciever. The 6100 only has one (even the AR6000 has two built in). The 6100 is the only one that I have read a lot of complaints about also.

My two cents, corrected for inflation.

The size difference between the 7000 and 6200 is small. It might be easier if the 6200 had end pins not top pins.

I am in complete agreement with this. I do wish they had put "end pins" on the 6200.

The AR6200 is, by the way, the same physical size as ther AR6100, it just has the second/external reciever (which is small enough that it is easy to find a place for).

The AR6200 main receiver is the same physical circuit board as the AR6100 except for the 6200 has the connector soldered in place for the remote. End pins would therefore only require different plastic and it should be an easy thing for them to do for us.
