e-Hirobo SRB Quark - Lepton - XRB Coaxial > Hirobo Quark, with DX7

I see you can buy these little guys with no TX, does that mean I can add my own 6100 receiver and use my DX7 TX?

I have been looking at the video's these look like a great little heli to go out and relax and fly. I have a Trex 450sa and a Bcx2, I enjoy them both but it sure looks like the Quark is a lot better flyer then the cx2. Would be even better if I could use my DX7 with it.

Is this a possibility? Or is it something in the near future?

Thanks
Van

vsnyder8, Hirobo is out of Japan and are not able to use 2.4Ghz yet. There isn't a big enough market in NA so they probably won't spend alot on Rd&R. I am sure someone could figure out how to mod the Quark but the cost in the end would make this a very expensive FP Heli.

Cheers

Thanks, I guess if I decide to get one of these I will get the one with the Tx included.

Even without 2.4ghz, the Quark is great. I too have a dx7 I would've liked to use, but no biggie. You'll quickly forget about that once you start flying it.

I have seen some guys on here say they have blade cx2's and like the quark much better. I too have a blade cx2 and really enjoy it on calm evenings. I am thinking the quark would be a little more fun but not as intense as flying a Trex450.

Don't get me wrong, I really like my Trex450 but I have two problems there, I don't have enough time to get really good at it and am basically just flying circuits and things because I don't want to crash and have to spend a bunch to fix it often. Time and money keep me from relaxing and getting into more advanced flying.

The blade cx2 is something I can take out front and fly around under the trees and over the street, if it has a blade strike and crashes it is usually less then $5 to fix it. I can really relax and just enjoy flying the cx2.

This is where I am really looking for the quark, it appears to fly as easily as the cx2 but has just a little more mobility without being intense. It also appears to be easy and cheap to repair if I get a little carried away and crash. I also can fly out front if kids are running around because I watch them very closely and maintain a safe distance but God forbid if one ever sneaked into my flying area I don't think a cx2 or a quark would do a lot of damage.

Please don't flame me with "it could put an eye out" or something like that, I know freak accidents can happen and mowing my lawn has the potential of throwing something and putting an eye out. I do watch closely but as I said if something went crazy and someone got hit on an arm or leg with one of these they would probably live.

Sorry about the long rant, just hopeing to get more comformation back from others I guess about how much better this heli is than the cx2.

Thanks guys.

I have just got into this hobby but I think the Hirobo Quark is great. It is very easy to control and out of the numerous crashes that I, the only damage are the main blades (very occasional the tail blades as well). The only restriction is that it has to be flown on a really calm or no wind situation.

Right out of the box it is as you Describe, Van. BUT there is some adjustment there. There is a small switch on the electronics board than when switched makes the Quark A LOT more nimble. The position of the ball on the flybar also makes a big difference. The Quark is an awesome heli that can take you from hovering around to fast forward flight. I have to say that practicing with the Quark has made me a better pilot all around. It brings your confidence up and is more fun than the sim.

I bought one so I can fly it around inside the house and in the garage when I don't have the time to drive over to the flying field. Fun little heli. I'm going to see if I can go inverted. Just kidding.

Hi, I got my Quark a couple weeks ago, I have made the electronic and physical adjustments to make it more nimble. This thing is a lot of fun, I can fly it with a pretty good breeze blowing and still have excellent control, a little hard to hover in one spot with a good breeze but fff is very good even then.

With the advanced settings it really livens up. Flying in front of my house is a blast, it goes like a rocket now, with full control. What I really like is, I spend my time flying it where I want it to go, instead of trying to not crash, it is so easy to keep flying.

I used to fly a blade cp with bl main and tail. the quark is about as quick as the cp but wants to stay up instead of always wanting to crash like the blade cp did. The biggest difference is the quark isn't good at loops and rolls.

I think the quark is a big step up in fun flying without the panic moments, now if they would just make a heli like this with symetrical styrofoam blades that could fly inverted I would be in line to buy one.

I'm really really really getting itchy to get one of these.

I flew a dozen cx, cp and cx2 and e-sky llamas in the hobby shop (I was repairing them for the owner) and I really miss my CP, but this heli looks way better and less stress = more fun.

350.00 seems to be the cheapest I can find.

the Airwolf Body is exclusive to Japan for the SRB..... YES?

I may have to have a buddy get me one as he is there now

You will not regret getting a Quark, yea it is a lot up front, I kept looking and hoping it was worth it, but when you first fly it you realize it is a whole different machine.

I read all the articles and the ones about beefing up the blades and all, I have not done the tape on the blades thing because I rarely break the blades. If you have a smooth surface like the street or sidewalk to take off and land on and you can land a cp or Trex without tipping you probably will not break many blades.

The quark does not fly like the cx2, or any other heli, it is the first heli I have had that I just charge the bats and fly and repeat over and over and over. I fly it around objects, high up, over trees and even behind things for brief seconds out of sight, it is so stable. I fly with a breeze outside with little affect, If you are comfortable with cp's the quark is a fun little heli.

Con's - The only bad thing I have found with the quark so far is I am not forced to be as sharp all the time. Therefore when I fly my Trex I have to be cautious and not fly it like my quark. I cannot of course fly my Trex around objects and as far away over the street, the Trex can get away from me faster and I need a little open ground for recovery if I make a slight miscalculation, not really so with the quark.

Sometimes I enjoy flying the quark slow and smooth, it does this very easily, and people that watch are surprised when I do push the controls, it is like a rocket if you want to go fast, but still under good control.

I have at least 50 flights on my quark now, with one good crash, I flew directly over myself while standing by my house and a wind caught it and I dumb thumbed it, broke all the blades, took almost 5 minutes before I was flying again.

If you get it you will love it!!!

What specific adjustments were made? Thanks.

One of the switches on the tx #4 I think offhand changes the servos to move from 1/2 to full length movements. Big difference with just that.

There are 2 adjustments on the rotor head assembly, these increase the speed of the bell hiller movement.

Then you move the servo connection out one notch.

Overall it responds very nicely when you get it, much more then the cx2 even when the cx2 is already upgraded. With these changes made the Quark becomes much more aggressive but somehow it is still very stable.

I think, and this is just my theory that some of the sability comes from the cone shape the blades make when spinning, causing a upward force to lift the heli but also a sideways force in all directions which would help to hold it steady, again just my idea.

I got my SRB Quark today. I had to go to work, so I waited till I came home to fiddle with it.
I read the instructions, charged the battery, and set the controler up as specified from the instruction manual, and did the start up sequence.

I held it in my hand and ran a series of low power reactions to inputs from the sticks.

First thing I felt: A VERY POWERFULL GYRO !

I was impressed, so I powered it down after everything checked out OK.

I set it on the floor.
The cats watched intently.

It started up again, slid around, then lifted a foot, and held a perfect hover with zero drift or tail twitch........

much unlike the cats which were twitching their tails intensely.

I set it back down, and decided "this bird needs to fly this coop!"

Took it out to my favorite "proving grounds" (Nighttime lighted parking lot near my house) and had a super smooth and nearly uneventful Maiden flight. It handled a slight breese very nicely, and impressed me with its agressive turning ability and nice responsive flight characteristics.

I cut the throttle at 10 feet and it dropped fast, I throttled back up inches from the ground, and did a "tap and go" on the ground, and the slight mis-calculation of the tail angle caused damage to a foam tail propeller blade.

I went home, slapped a replacement one on, pluged it all back in, and it flew perfectly 30 seconds later with the repair.

350.00 for it from Greg off e-bay, and it is worth every penny.
I was not sure if I would like it, but it's super stable and very relaxing to fly with just a bit of "squirelyness" to make if fun in the wind.
