I was trying to tune in my OS70 today at our local fun fly and my buddy pointed out a tail vibe I never seen before. My tail as a vibration which seems to make tail go up and down fairly fast about 1/8" up and down. Everything seems oK but any taughts on what I should be looking at or is this normal????

I found that my fly bar was 5mm out to one side which seem to help but still little vibe left.

Check your torque tube bearings,I have had them creep along the shaft and end up nearly together, this will cause small vibes in the tail

Hi storm 1969

What Nitro % are you flying with.........

Ive got exactly the same problem in my tail on my TT90se. I run 30% nitro and the last thing Im going to try is putting in a thicker shim in the os 90s head. Ive just finished reading rcheli magazine and they describe the same vibration up and down in the tail and it was due to a rough running engine with not enough shimming in relation to how much nitro was in the fuel. High nitro and not enough shimming will result in advanced ignition causing a rough run. My OS90szh came with extra shimms so I will use those. I am doing this tonight and If your intrested I can let you know if it helped? cheers

Yesterday was history...tomorrow is mystery

hey wait to do the shims. you put shims you lose power i would wait. they are made for just making the motor run smother look for other things first before shims

Good job tracking it down, I have had the same problem on one of the 60's and when I found the "minor" things in the head it made the other things go away..... Oh, Like the tail shake I had..

I would be very hard pressed to shim the head! Not on a 70 on 15%
Remember it's just a magazine, If they print it the masses follow!

You will find on the 60 and 90 series that micro adjustments can make the world of difference on flying performance.... I had to learn that the long hard way on trying to real in my first 60 OS in the the summer heat in Florida having never set one up before..

Yah I ear you! I realized I didn't pay enough attention to the head after my overall and neglected a few oversights. re-trimed everything there including padles and all. My tail still vibes a little but I am still running rich I just put it in about four tanks ago and I want to get it right and I think it's because I am little rich still.

But I know all is well!!

The tail on one of my raptor 60's did vibrate up and down slightly but when i raised the head speed like in idle up 1 it went away. When i come back in now to hover and go to normal mode it starts to vibrate again. I just accept it as ive had the tail and head apart i dont know how many times but its no better or worse!

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!

Well I found the problem the tail stop vibrating after I changed out my cluctch and bell. I noticed that one leg seems easier to flex than other, I think it was on it's way out. But the new 90 hd 3d clutch might be a bit much for my os70 runs good and all but lugs engines a bit more, I still have to lean it out but after a flight I checked engine and I was at 160 deg not much room for leaning but outside temp was 90 deg today so I have a bit of room but I don't want to over do it!!!!

Storman1969--
160 degrees is a "good" target temp! Now work on kicking up the RPMS and find that "perfect" speed... I'm running my 70 at 1900 on stunt 2 --- (I don't use stunt 1-I have it set from 0 to 100)!
So play with the RPM's till you find your sweet spot for your blades and combination you have set your helo up with!!
When you find it, It's a "SWEET" combo.....

Good Luck buddy, Keep me updated....

Yah I am going to boost up my rpm to get that 1900 rpm and see what I get from that point because I found she was very strong but that new clutch wow man! I went from stock jump right over the 90 HD and went to the HD 3D 90 clutch. but wow it idles better because one leg is not grabing a bit and it really holds well and bogs the engine into that Horse power range for sure.

Like you say PULL a little rpm will find the sweet spot.
