| I know, I know... this gyro is way too good for the CP Pro. I have a TRex 450 in the box, but I'm waiting for servos for it, and I thought I would try to make the GY401 work on my CP Pro - it can't possibly make the tail any worse - or at least that's what I thought.
The GY401 has completely jacked-up my chopper! I haven't damaged anything, but it will not hold the tail no matter what I do. I don't even know what to check. Please help me get started with this gyro... I am using the Spektrum DX7 radio, and I have the gyro sensitivity (single wire) plugged into the 'gear' channel, and I set up the gear channel on the radio to be for a gyro. I have set the sensitivity to switch on the Rudder D/R switch, since I don't really know how to set it up for auto mode. I have the low rate set at 45% and the high rate set at... well, I've tried numbers from 70% to 100%.
What happens is when I spin up the main blades, the tail will start to spin normally (I trimmed the rudder with GY401 in low rate mode) - but as soon as it gets off the ground, it switches from holding decently for a second or two, to spinning wildly out of control, and I don't even hear the tail rotor changing speed when it's spinning. Also, when I do hit the rudder stick, the helicopter will spin in that direction for a long time! I need instant rudder response, this just isn't going to do. I have tried various settings on the gyro 'delay' and 'limit' but it doesn't seem to matter.
I hope this is ok for a first post - I was invited here by a fellow pilot. I'm not an abject noob, but my experience is mostly with planes. I did have this helicopter flying decently with the built-in gyro, which I disabled by turning the proportional mix all the way down (correct?) I searched this forum and some others (and Google) and couldn't find anything about this specific gyro with the Blade CP Pro???
If you know of an article about how to set up the GY401, please help me find it. Thanks very much!
Er... I just noticed I'm apparently a New Heli Man? Can I change that to something more appropriate? New Heli Woman? At the very least |
