Hi Guys,

I have a standered g231 engine with the blue marine heat sink head in my spectra g. I do not seem to be getting the power I think i should be getting. The spectra have a hard time pulling through a loop not to mention other mild 3d flying. I hear complaints about the g231 bogging but did not think it was this bad since miniature aircraft recomend this motor. I'm at the piont know of sending it to TRM and having the 260 mod done.

Thanks
Terry

Which Head??? There has to be something very wrong if your having trouble with a loop,, Can you post pic's of your head,, also,, which oil and how much are you using??? What does your plug look like?? After these questions maybe we can figure out whats going wrong.. XGM/VGM

Could be MANY reasons

From horsing the sticks too much to too much cyclic/collective throw to poop collective management to bad mixture or even worse damaged motor. Not to mention a plugged muffler...

If you're going to spend the money to rework it, a g26 will give you more freedom with the cyclis and collective sticks.

Maybe, maybe not if he fitted a radiator up front and a B&B crankcase pump to move the antifreeze! The we can have some super debate about antifreeze mixture settings, and what ratios people use in there!! Can you imagine?

He he

Well the topend is actually a marinehead, but it is a
two piece topend, you have one these type of heads,
the blue " air cooler " can be taking of the cylinder
and then fitted with the "water cooler"
All the other topends I have seen was one pieced "cylinders"
It woorks fine, but it`s a littel bit heavyer that the convetional
typs, not much.

Just out of curiosity, did you use a$$mans method of tuning or did you use mine? Never mind, I already know.

Terry,, I have no experience with Coleman Fuels,, but 1 3/4 sounds really rich,, Maybe Billme will see this post and reply to it,,, Is your engine running smooth??? how about transitions, are they smooth or do you get a stumbling effect when you go to full throttle??

3.5 ouces of yamalub

Is this synthetic oil?? if so did you start out with this oil?? You might not have the engine broke in yet, if you have been flying this oil from the get go... XGM/VGM
