I have a question regarding my spectra g build. included with the kit is a CF carb spacer that the instructions show how to install. What is the pourpose of this? i am unclear of the reason this is installed.

Also, i ordered the aluminum carb spacer with the engine, is it still necessary to install the CF plate that comes with my kit?

Thanks, Matt

hey

It`meant to prevent the fuel in the carb to getting hot,
I have never used mine, heat deflector thing, but
I have seen that you can get som teflon gaskets for
the rc billet that works like the carbonplate that comes with
your heli

No-one asnwered my question on that - I can uderstand it might help avoid careless burnt fingers too - but I figure you're gonna need another gasket..one each side of the plate?

As J8 said

Its meant to prevent the carb from heating up from the fan blowby.

I never used mine for quite some time and then I went to the z-rc insulator and finally I got a z-rc teflon gasket in the shape of this cf plate that I currently use now. Contact Johan if you want a teflon spacer in this shape. Not sure if it helps or hurts, I can't tell the difference but I've got one on mine now. You can see it in my gallery latest pictures added.

I got the cnc insulator as a mater of prevention..so just an extra gasket then..

Another option (which worked well on a friends Spectra) is to run an additional stock Teflon gasket. Just mount a Teflon gasket between the engine and the CF plate, then another Teflon gasket between the CF plate and z-rc aluminum insulator. So you would be running three Teflon gaskets instead of two. You also benefit from even better thermal insulation for the carb and can use the pretty CF plate. The additional 3mm spacing of the carb outward doesn't effect anything.

regards, Johan

..I'm sure it doesn't..just felt that putting in the CF plate ought to have included a manual comment re extra gasket..or better still a gasket in the kit.
..I'm evidently just picky about stuff..
