Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Furry or Stratus?

I have done a lot of research for my first 90 size heli (Avant, T rex 700 and Synergy). Finally, I decided to go with MA. My choices are Stratus latest version and Furry. Which one should I go with Furry or Stratus, OS or YS engine? I had a lot more experience with OS 50 engine.

Thanks
Tuan

either one are great flyers. I have extremes one with a tempest head. Very stable. I also have 2 new in box extremes with the 8.18 gearing for OS. I could let you have one for a reasonable price. PM me.

Hi

i have flown a Fury Extreme for two years, with an YS91ST and OS91-Cspec PS.

One year ago I converted it to a Stratus and OS91SZ OMI, and biuld a second one.
Both the Fury and the Stratus flies GREAT.
I like the Stratus best!

Right now I have installed a new YS91SR +SB19 in one of the Stratusses.
Haven't flown it yet.
but the YS91Sr should have awesome torque....

PS: there is soon a new OS91 out.

I have a Fury Extreme which I really like. I like the engine pointing toward the rear (no glow extension) Plus the kit is just a bit cheaper.

Hi all
I decided to go with Stratus just b/c I like the gas tank in the middle.

Kit: Stratus 8.18 (Bobby Watts Special)
Engine: YS 91 SR long stroker
Pipe: sb 19
V-Blade: 700mm
V-Blade: 105mm
Cyclic: DS 8717 @ 8V
Throttle: S9252
Gyro: 7703/8900g

Is there any wrong with my setup?
Is stock 8717 servo horns ok for Stratus?
What starter coupling I could use for T rex 600 and Stratus?
Is there anything else I need to buy to complete the kit?

The Stratus is a really nice helicopter you're gonna love it. I use a Thunder Tiger starter coupler. Grind a flat spot on the starter shaft, and no problems.

Tracy,

You had chosen the best of the best so as your setup, the only thing I honestly don't like is your gyro, if I were you I will go with either FUT 611+BLS251 or CY Solid-G with BLS251/JR8900G. but this is just my personal preferences.

Your list looks good except the gyro

I would get the 8.18 gear ratio

I also use a raptor hex adapter on my start shaft which fits my 600

The reason I chose 7703/8900 b/c I am very familiar with this Gyro. I have been using this Gyro for my 600N and it's hold very well. I don't know how it's going to be with 90 ship. I might go with Spartan if I can find it in stock somewhere. I just placed stratus kit back order with heliproz, Hopefull I will get it next month.

i have read that there will be a new kit from MA but how soon dont know, first its going to be the fury 450 then the banadit 50 then the new kit lol it took them 4 months to come out with a new tank so how long would it take for a new bird

If you aint crashing you aint flyin

There's only one "Furry"

I couldn't resist

"El Dooderino" if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

770/8900 works great, you have to have the patience/skill/insight to set it up correctly. That's the Problem. People expect that you should take it out of the box, stick it to the heli and go. It just doesn't work that way. Some Gyros are more tolerant of IMPROPER set up, the 770 is NOT. Learn how to set it up properly and it's a great gyro.

DOOD,

The main difference is the gear ratio, the 8.18 is meant for the OS 91 and the 8.45 is meant for the YS motor. The motor mount is a little different in each kit to accommodate for the difference in the crankcase vs shaft placement. Also the Extreme kit comes with both sets of brass screws and holders for JR and Futaba servos.
