e-Electric Batteries & Chargers > How to charge 10S1P on an Hyperion 0610 DUO?

Hi,
I have a Lipo with 10S1P configuration and it has 2 balancer tabs with 5s connectors. So from that side I donīt have to make any modifications.
The HP Duo shows me all the cells.
But I only have one main connector. So how can I do it to charge it on the HP Duo? Do I have to rip the cells appart and make two 5S1P packs and chargesync it with the Duo and afterwards connect them in series?
Help wanted.

I will ask 'The Man' tomorrow.

My immediate though is you will have to 'cut the pack in half' and fit two sets of power wires, then re-series the pack after charging.

Here at our secret test facility, we very rarely use any packs higher than 6S. And if we do it'll be 2 packs of 4S in series.

Maybe this is one for the next firmware update!

Duo Charger

you cannot charge anything over 6s on the 610I duo's

If you cut the pack in half and made 2 5s setups with 2 seperate plugs then you could charge that way...otherwise...you'll have to do what I do...just get a hyperion 1210 to charge your 10s packs...or sell that one and buy 2 5s packs...

Most people use nothing larger than 6s packs these days...it just gets too expensive when you damage 1 cell on a 10s or 12 setup...

This is my picture of the week

15S2P pack made of 5S packs. (6 batteries)

For the money, mod the pack. Or get a 1210i.

would the new Cellpro 10s an option to charge that pack?
I read that you can connect a 10s pack with two balancer conectors.

Jag72,

How do you use the 1210 with a 10s pack? Do you charge the pack and then balance? I have this set up and couldn't figure out how to charge and balance a 10s pack.

Thanks,
John

1210i

Use an LBA10 external balancer - this will balance the high cells down to match the volatges while the pack is charging.

Individually they will balance upto 6 cells, you can network a pair of them to balance upto 12 cells. Providing your pack has two balance plugs.

Two LBA10 balancers networked doesn't work on a single 10S pack. The network configuration works only with two separate packs of the same type (same cell count, same capacity and same type of cells). If your 10S is configured as a single pack, the balancers get confused and charging and balancing takes a long time with no predictable results.
For the high voltage packs (up to 12S) I use the Hyperion 1210i charger and the Robbe 12S balancer (Robbe model no.8484). The balancer is connected to the charger with the charger leads and the data cable (a simple servo male-male extension), in this configuration the chargers shows the individual cell voltages on screen and also monitors the individual voltages and adapts the charging process according to pack condition. It is a very reliable setup capable of up to 2C safe charging rates (max 200Watt).

Feel for the electrons, free as many as you can.
