Radio - JR & Spektrum DSM > 1221 Bind issue

Went to bind my 1221 RX to the TX this morning. Selected the model prior on the TX. Installed the switch, bind plug, and battery, as instructed. Flipped the switch on the RX and only get one flash on each antenna when power is applied. I checked the battery voltage, 5.0. Switch is not new but I use it as a slave when doing bench work and works perfect in any other application.

Any suggestions?

remove the switch from the equation

go direct.. bind plug in where indicated and battery directly in another slot.. see if that does it

Great minds think alike. I removed the switch from the equation. Battery direct, bind plug in the bind slot.

Same results.

Well I think I found the problem and know how to fix it.

Send it back or send it back

This really causes some issues. Schit.

Dont know,

I think it is going to take trip via USPS back to IL. I tried different bind plugs, different slots, with the same results. I will play a bit more tonight.

I chatted with the Horizon folks today. Its going back. The tech mentioned a couple of things it may be. I will request it to be replaced and not repaired.

I have another 1221 on back order. For you guys waiting for them, maybe by the end of the month they should be here.

Butch, can you share what the tech thought it might be? Always curious to learn more about these things.

When I spoke with the Tech from Horizon, he mentioned a couple of things. One being the RX could have some kind of internal fault during assembly not allowing it to power correctly. Another thing was a process, where the function of binding, is "burnt" into the internal processor or chip within the RX. I asked if either of these had been an issue and the answer was not to his knowledge but just some possible problems or causes as to why it is acting the way it is.

I asked for a defect report but who knows if I will see one. If I here what the issue is, I will pass it on for sure.

Thanks for that info, Butch.

Sounds like they are taking care of you which is nice. It would be great to hear what exactly was the problem if they relay that info back to you.
