This is an easy question. There is so many for sale because there is quite simply a ton of them out there. As for the repair prices, I smashed mine in hard last week due to a mechanical failure, cost less than a $100 buck to fix with blades and all, canopy took a real hit and is ok.

I saw a couple of Protos' fly over the weekend. It's a very impressive heli and it is tempting to get one!

Yea, the Protos looks kewl. Overall parts pricing is a little higher than the Rex 500(except for the Rex's carbon frames $60 vs Protos plastic frames $30) The carbon frames on the Rex 500 are pretty stout though. Flying wise, they both have a ton o' power on 6S.

I do however like that the protos is able to use plastic blade grips, I wonder if they could mate onto a Rex hub, or maybe just swap out the head. Don't like that the grips on the Rex are $45 a pop for the set and you can't buy them individually. Also, I feel that plastic grips can give a heli more pop with a little bit of flex, kinda like cracking a whip.
