What IS up with me? I can fly my simulator flawless(most times) with settings turned up, but CRASH my real HeliWhat a psyco! Is it just because of the re-set button???Another sixty bucks and four days to wait for all the new parts to come. That's why I love this hobby Always have fun. GOD I LOVE SIMS. Papa Sal

I have the same problem. Not nervous flying the sim, but can't stop shaking when looping, rolling, and attempting inverted hovering (haven't gotten that one yet).

Shhh, don't tell the wife.

sims are great for orenintaions and practicing bail out moves. but no sim can mimic real life flight conditions( wind gust, direction, thermal currents, radio and mechanical problems etc etc.) no matter how much you use the sim and play with the settings youre actual heli will never fly excactly like the one on the sim. thats why when i try a new move after doign it on the sim i make sure i have plenty of altitude and lots of room for those last second corrections. long story short never rely 100% on the sim. inj the back of our mind we know the sim has that reset button, so we get comfy. when its time for the real heli its easy to get nerved out and panic! ( i know all about that)

damn, that was close!

I have the same problem too. The simulator can only mimic the real flight, but no way it will be the same. Also, the fear factor plays the main role. Well, just take your own pace, and learn it slowly.

Let's see the first crash was...." honey watch this piro", then the lastest crash was a hover and not paying attention....hit the bird feeder that was behind me. But i agree no sim is like "the real thing". But aleast they're good to have as back-up

lol, my last " honey watch this" was a inverted crash in the garage with my cp pro, had to fly out of garage, invert, then come back in tail first, had a very good havoer going, which is very hard with the cp pro, especailly inverted. got a little to low in to ground effect and lost. i ddint want to risk trying to right itin the garage with her behind me.

damn, that was close!

Don't feel bad Papa Sal. I did the samething. Fly the SIM like
a mad man on meth and at the flying field fly the real thing I felt
like a dog pooping peach seeds! It soon will pass! (No Pun intended)

Video game mindset

We are naturally more relaxed with Sims because you don't have allot riding on the crash because of the convenience of the reset button. Git rid of the video game mindset!! Heat up the situation with this trick... Have some five-dollar bills on hand for starters and give a bill away to your kid, friend or significant other everytime you crash. Trust me.. you will take every flight more seriously. If not, increase the amount until you do reach this point. You and the other party, receiving the funds, will benefit with this method.

I Keep a jar on my desk next to the computer. Everytime i crash i put a buck in it. When i crash one of my real helis i use the money from the jar to help with repairs. I think it's working because the jar isn't going very far these days......

G4 Sims All the way!!!!

I swear by my G4 Sims. Mine sat in the box since Christmas of 2007. They 4 days ago I broke down and got it out. Before that, all I could do was use the left stick on my Blade CX 2. Since I started putting in hours on my Sims, I am doing figure eight's, and all kinds of tricks. I can make it land any place that I want it to. With each hour on my Sims, the better I get. Since I got the G4 Sims out, I have not crashed once. So I cannot say enough about using a Sims. It may seem like a game, but it has allowed me to now do things I could never do before and now I am looking at buying a T-Rex 600. All because of the Sims. I can flips, and several other tricks I never thought I could ever do.

So SIMS SIMS SIMS all the way. Now I have never used any other Sims beside the G4 Sims, so I have no clue how they feel, but I swear by the G4. Granted, it is a $200.00 Investment, but I spent that in parts prior to getting the Sims out. BIGGGGG mistake on my part. I should have listened to what everyone told me from the beginning.

Hope this helps...

LOVE the RED button!!!!!

I think the reasons people (myself included) can be "pro" pilots in the sim but not in real life are because of 3 main aspects.

#1 the sim is a perfect world. No wind gusts, no adverse turbulence effects and no distractions. No shaky hands, no spectators, no commentators, nobody to hit or property to damage. No insects biting you're thumb.

#2 no mechanical failures and a perfect heli mechanically. There is always an instant and equal reaction to every action in the sim, no bog time or slop in the head so to speak. No slow servo's, no blade flapping, no tail issues.

#3 no consequence. If all you had to do was press that happy little reset button while sitting in your armchair you'd fly the crap out of the real heli too. At least I know I would and I'd probably be alot braver with my maneuvers and attempts at new tricks.

Oh well, sims rock. If it wasn't for them we'd all have to learn alot more the hard way.

with 2 ears and 1 mouth you should listen twice as much as you talk

Papa Sal-
Now I agree with Speeedoman370 but I have some advice that might ruffle a few "SIM People" out there...
--Don't use it!---
Sure, you here it all day long, oh the statements of "it teaches you muscle/stick movement".... Yeah, okay.... Now come fly in the real world....
On the sticks, On the bird, mind and fingers making your brain fry from stress....
I learned the "Good Ol'Fashioned" no-video reset button way!
Spool that helo up and fly the dang thing.....Guess what it works!!!
Now the "Sim" guys may balk and squak but I live and die by the belief that no friggin' sim is like life... Unless you fly you helicopter from a office chair in front of a 25" monitor!
Get on the Transmitter, on the sticks, Get in the air and take your time and you will have absolutely no use (unless it's a rainy day out) for the wanna be video game of simulation...
Too bad they don't make a "SIM" for real life-I could use one!

Pull-n-Pitch
"On the sticks and In the Air"
what reset button did I miss?
