My Evo 50 one way bearing failed to grep again. It seems to me that it breaks quite often... maybe once every 6 gallons of fuel. Is that true also for you guys?

Mine is still the original. I'm not sure on how many gallons have been put on the heli, but it has been plenty. No crashes though! Something weird is going on.

I'm able to extend the life of mine by filling the gaps between the housing and bearing with epoxy or JB weld. The specs for the one-way bearing call for a steel housing (heavy) to achieve their maximum rating. They also give specs for the minimum OD for the steel housing. For our purpose, just making a better fit between the plastic and the added support is enough. I get over a year out of them.

Ever since I've packed my one-way with grease on the outside, I've not had an issue since. But I do keep a spare in my flight box just in case.

Hi

Had one fail at 150 flights. I now apply grease to the bearing case and plastic gear.

I'll let you know how I get on. I also check the bearing case every 5 hours.

I have never had a one way bearing failure without taking the blades off the heli in a crash first. Some times about a week or two after a crash it completely cracks and starts to slip. Without a crash they seem to work without any problems.

I do a lot of autos which applies full power climbouts to no power when in an autorotation. One tank of fuel is usually 75 plus autos. It seems like this would place an additional stress on the one way bearing. I use grease on the outer part of the bearing next to the case and a very small amount of light oil inside the bearing. Works for me.
