Hope your sensor doesn't fail, hit throttle hold pretty quick!!

Until that sensor is proven to last, I would not set to 100 across the board, you never know.

Got hold of new multigov so probably won't use the limiter, anyone knows though if the sensor will work with the multigov?

Common sense may not be common after all

Revmax and Multigov sensors are interchangable so since the AR7100 seems to be based on the revmax unit and there are already photos showing that the multigov does detect the signal from the new sensor, I believe it will work.

I do hope so because I'm thinking in converting mine to this system when the sensors become available

The 7100R sensor and the MultiGov seem to work on the bench.

I'll be trying it with a MultiGov Pro + a 91 SZ to see how well it works on the weekend.

Sensor lights twice

I am installing the 7100R and ran across a thread that talked about the YS having the sensor not touching the back plate. No matter how I position the sensor I get 2 quick red leds when rotating the engine. At RPM, does this sense as 1 revolution? Do I need to work on it to get only one red light?

I can not find this thread with search function for some reason. Thanks. Mark

Here's the thread you were referring to: http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t439190p1/

You need to back the sensor away from the backplate a considerable amount on the YS SR to get it to function properly. I had to use the hole on the mounting bracket for the 50-sized engine to get it far enough away from the backplate. If the light is flashing twice each time the crank passes it is not going to work - I've tried every which way. It may not even work touching the backplate if you manage to get the light to flash only once. Finless on the Freak set it up on his Aurora with the YS 91SR touching the backplate originally, and though the sensor light seemed normal on the bench, it didn't work during his test flights. He too had to back the sensor away from the backplate to get it to work.

I know Paul Beard says it works perfectly with the YS SR engine, but I still have yet to find a single person who has got it to work without pulling the sensor away from the backplate.

What's weird is that I don't think it has anything to do with the crankshaft or the crankpin itself. The reason I say that is because I installed a YS 91SR crankshaft into a O.S. 91SZ crankcase with the O.S. backplate. When I installed the sensor touching the backplate and rotated the crank by hand everything was normal, i.e. the sensor light only lit up once each time the crank pin passed by the sensor. When I installed that exact same crankshaft into the YS 91SR crankcase with the YS backplate, the sensor light flashed twice every time the crank pin passed by.

I run a throttle curve in normal with the revmax diabled.
I have had sensors fail before, just switch to normal
and bring her on in...no biggy.

I want to fit it in a vibe 50 with 8717,s and 2 cell lipo but surely you're looking for trouble with the 8.4v (fully charged) on the 8717,s as they are not rated officially for that voltage?

I agree this is the only reason I have not went to a 8.4v system.

I believe Specktrum will have a servo capible of 8.0+ volts in the
future. This is just speculation on my part, but it would seem
like the next logical step for Spektrum.

thanks. You are always full of excellent information. It is working fine set up as 50. The double light may be picking up the sleeve on the connecting rod. I will experiment with this the next time I have an engine apart. Moving it further away makes things less sensitive.

Good point on the con rod - I hadn't thought to try that angle. Interested to know what you find out.

I received my AR7100r about two weeks ago. I finally tried it out today on my Raptor 90SE with an OS 91SZ non pumped. It works fantastic! I have a DS 8311 for the throttle servo running on 6 volts. It flies smooth as silk. I have the throttle curve on my JR9303 set at 100% all the way across, and the governor screen set at 57%. This yields 1650 headspeed. I am going to crank it up more next time I go out, this was just a test to make sure everything was working and my time was limited today. The sensor design is awesome - I can't believe no one thought of this a long time ago. Hats off to JR/Spektrum for the innovative products they are bringing to us at very reasonable prices. Every nitro bird I build from now on, & the Raptor 50 I already have, will be equipped with the AR7100r - I like it that much.
