Welcome, E-Aurora v2

Now we have ventured into the lands of "no turning back"
(well, buy new frames and you can go back)

Shaving off another 100grams from the original setup.

with Desire Power 12s1p (2 x 6s) 4500

If you want stiffer frames with this setup, just go from behind the motor to the rear landning-gear, however rememeber, there is no vibrations, its just gonna hold the batteries...

Hi Mr Mel,

Thats realy nice done-and greate Video btw.
I am very glad that I went to 12s Elektrik-just a great sound.

How does is the feeling with this head comparet to V-Bar? I just would like to test this head-knowing it may be a downgrade to my 3axis V-bar. I just like this maschined Aurora head.......

The diameter of the Aurora tail boom is it 25mm or like the Raptor 90 25,4mm?

Thanks.

regards from Denmark.

I have to fly a little more, this current setup (copied alan's) was too slow for my liking, I want it about 25% faster.

As for how it is compared to the vbar...

E-Stratus - VBar - DesirePower 30C 12s1p 4500
http://heli.dacsa.net/E-Stratus/E-S...6-14%20DP30.wmv

Flybarhead will always be less power, Avant Aurora uses insane long flybar, which will make it even less powerful compared to a vbar head.

Gonna check the boom size and get back.

You can buy DesirePower at www.autopartner.se

They are about 645grams for 25C, a little more for 30C.

"Internal resistance what is that", they kick FP/TP b..t, bigtime.

Included is a voltage comparsion for my regular 3D routine, DP25C vs Evo30's (both 8 cycles..), FP even having a short break in the beginnning...

They are the reason why my tag-line is what it is...

For US customers, they are rebranded in the US (dont know what brands) but I think they will emerge as DesirePower soon too.

Gonna put on a datalogger for the Aurora on the next flight, going to be intresting to see how much difference that 555mm flybar does.

Hi, Is that the standart length which comes with this head-or is it a longer one?
The T-Rex 700 flybar is about 58 cm as i am aware of-damn this is long and should consume a lot of power compared to flybarless.

Just curiours-where did you buy your Avant Mr. Mel.
Must we as europian citizen by the kid from Rc-Marked in Belgium or is it possible to by it in the US or England too. Ok England is still europe so this should do.

Kit was bought at Andy's RealRaptors.co.uk, he's one of the best in EU.

Flybar used is stock.

Aurora conversion partlist.

These three can be found at ronlund.

1 x MA0864-5 (10T pinion, giving 9.9:1 gearratio)
1 x MA124-120 (5mm or 6mm available depending on motor, however, 5mm is easy to drill out to 6mm when you have fitted the pinion)
2 x MA0586-17 (mounts for the motor plate)

This one you probably have to grab from MA Direct or make it yourself.

1 x MA124-158 (motor mount plate)

a sheet of fiberglass or CF
fiberglass can be found here, use 2.3mm thick.
http://www.espritmodel.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=2230

For the "Cut the frame" conversion you need a 250mm long 25mm wide, 15mm high alu U profile (or square would work with throughgoing bolts)

Then a motor, for 12s around 450-500kv, 550kv will work if you run a PJ.

Motor temp is under debate
Scorpion coming out with a V2 version for this motor already after first batch, probably since I reported it ran hot for my flight since I got it.
So mine is running fairly hot (85C), but there is a mod to do, and as I say, v2 will probably be out before it even hit the US market.

Thanks Mr Mel. V2 should be a good alternative to the Actro 32-3.
I'm really impressed with the overall weight 5.140kg on 4500mah. I'm looking to do a 700e later this year with 2x 6s 5000mah. They are 750gr each, so pretty close. That is basically the same as a light 90 nitro with fuel.

Hi Guys,

Hm I dont know if you have noticed-but the germans had reached the 5,1KW already last year with an Strecker 435.30 motor on the Revo Heli from Heli Professional.
Now you can get an cheap Kontronik Kora Top with Ceramic bearing with a KV of 440 and 515 and this Motor pulls 5.1 KW on 12 S too. And the price is only 179 €. Furthermore its onlu 404gr heavy.

Here the link.

I have one of the "Strecker 435.30 motor", sorry but they are not good, poor power and running insane hot.

Pulling watts is easy, I can get any motor to pull xxxx watts, question is if they deliver power out too.

I gonna get one of those KoraTop and see how they are.

Pinion

You said that you used the MA0864-5 10T pinion, right? I don't have experience with the Ion and was hunting around for a 13T pinion but all the ones I found on the MA website seem to not be a 13T version of the of the one used. DOes it just not exist? Or are the part numbers realy that different between pinions? Do you know of one that will work?

I dont think there is a MA 13T pinion, but you could probably source it elsewhere + use a longer shaft and change the upper bearing to fit the motor shaft and by that get the support needed.

Ive done such things on other helis.

Ah, okay. Didn't think of that. I was thinking I'd have to find some strange type of pinion that was designed to take a bearing at the other end like the MA pinion from somewhere else.

What are the specs of the main gear? (To spec out the appropriate pinion that will mesh).
