Flybarless Rotor Head Systems > Having some trouble with my VBAR, suggestions?

I tried to maiden my Xtreme 50 today with VBAR and right before it was about to take off, it almost went tail up and I had to pull it back down by pulling back on the cyclic, it started to teeder front to back so I put her down. I don't understand, I checked the servos and did the swash plate tests and everything seemed correct, any suggestions????

If you haven't been to www.vstabi.de, they have a forum where you can ask questions that stump most of us, and get answers from guys who REALLY know the system.

All I can say is what worked for me, which was make sure the servos and sensors all work in the proper direction on the bench, set your dual rates in the radio at about 70% to start with, start out with the default program setting, and modify from there.

Be patient. Once you find the issue and fix it, you'll love the way it flies. I've never heard of anyone who worked through the learning curve and got it figured out, who later went back to a fly bar because they liked the way the fly bar flew over the V-Bar.

Take care, Dave.

Hi
Make sure the swash is moving the right way it sounds like the sensor on cyclic is backwards

When you tip the heli forward the swash should go back (up elevator) when you tip it back the swash should go forward ( down elevator)

The same will happen wiht the aileron

That definitely sound like a sensor being reversed. A reversed sensor direction will kill a heli with the first cyclic input. Just like a tail gyro in reverse.

Don't ask me how I know....

I checked it, and it appears correct, but when I tilt the bird, the swash moves very little, but in the right directions. Any other things I should check???

Vbar

if the Vbar reacts in the proper way then you just may be experiencing the weird "ground effect" of vbar...

It's something that takes a bit ofgetting used to...but if you are sure the sensors are reacting properly just take off and get away from the ground as fast as you can

I think you'll see it's just fine...

Ill try it! How much exponential should I put in my Futaba 7C Radio? The instructions don't really cover it.

What Jag said...but it also sounds like your rotor gain may be a little low...

Also I would start at 40 expo at first and then lower it as you get comfortable with it...

Yep increase gain a bit

make sure you get to 0 pitch quickly, also its ok to fly the disk to keep it level while on the ground

small corrections. The trick to flybarless is how much you don't correct it.

one more thing hit recalibrate, it might be drifting. Make sure the swash returns to level after an input.

I love these things!!!
