Align T-REX 600N 700N > yet another 2in1 ?

I think that my 2in1 could be bad I know that there are alot of complaints but I wanted another opinion. I have a 600n with a new 2in1 (hard cases) I have 3-9452 1-9254 gy401 align gov a 3151 and a futaba pcm. what it does is on the first flight or so it will be good but today it started to glitch real bad on the third flight 8.2volts still in pack. One time at about 7.5 volts I did a range check and all seemed ok so I started the motor and lost everything so I turned it off then back on, nothing, unplugged and replugged, nothing till I charged the pack. There have even been times that it seems to be that the gyro has to reboot after a bad glitch(I could be wrong it always stayed straight but I could be lucky) I just want to know if this sounds like reg being bad I like the idea of the 2in1 but I like my helis in one piece more. Oh I also have ran a small motor and prop off the reg and pulled 2.5amps all the way down to 7.0 from a full charge and it ran fine the whole time
If this is the glitch that locks out the 2.4 Im sorry to who ever that happens to. A pcm does not have reboot time like some 2.4 but man I cant afford all that new under wear everytime that thing glitchs
Thanks for any input
Dave

Try leaving everything as is but do not use the glow driver built into the 2-in-1 at all.Remove the aligator clip from the glow plug and use a standard glow driver.Raptorgary and I have spent all day chasing an odd glitch in his 600N....No glitches with the glow driver unhooked.

My advise, get rid of the 2 in 1. Mine was just as flaky

Just a thought, it is possible metal to metal noise is being generated between the crocodile clip and the glowplug. A solution may be to put some copper grease in the clip, this was very effective eliminating noise from a metal gearbox. It may also be worth replacing the crocodile clip with a more secure fixing that won't rattle.

I had a similiar thing happen to me and found that I wasn't getting a good connection with the stock JST connector. I just changed it to some deans and problem went away. Try it, it helped me and it's a quick inexpensive fix if it works.

Aloha,

Les

jst connectors are crap. change them out for deans for sure. They can't carry current and are tiny little connectors. I have never liked the idea of a crocodile clip for the remote glow setup. Personally I'd rather use a seperate glow driver. Remove the clip....replace the jst. try. report.

I bought a 2-in-1 yesterday and decided right away to replace the JST with the small deans connectors. It doesn't have to carry more than about 6A so it should be fine. Are you guys using the small deans or the big one?

Deans Ultra on mine. If you are having problems with the power system, don't overlook the battery. I've had many LiPo's go bad due to internal resistance issues. It's hard to spot this problem in a receiver battery. Check voltage and everthing looks OK. Add load and battery voltage can quickly drop to well below 3.0V/cell (6.0V for 2S). The manual doesn't state minimum voltage. Does anyone know if the 2 in 1 can operate properly at less than 6.0 V.

I did change to deans before it ever saw any power. I will not be able to report back with resaults before this weekend. Working = no flying

best advice. esp if using the stock align 1900mah 12c battery. It's a chuck away job from new. I have a reg but didn't use the battery. I get a lot more run time from a 1500 mah 20c orca battery.

Have you tried to eliminate the 2in1 and lipo with a standard switch and nicd pack to see if the problem still occurs with the 2in1 removed?
I mean remove the possible problem and if it persists then maybe something else could be wrong.
Just my opinion I could be wrong however.

Good Luck!

fixed it thankyou I removed the onboard igniter and no more glitch. I want to see if it is just the aligator by changing that out for a better locking setup but dont even want to fly with the chance of it glitching again. it is good now I just have to use the glow stick
again thank you

I installed a 2-in-1 on my Raptor 50SE this weekend. After the above hassles with the glo connection I cabled tied mine against the frame. Three flights yesterday - no glitches!
