I'm not sure how it works with the Seagull, but I've just ordered the eLogger V3 and was told it would work fine. This is an email I recieved from eagletree:
The V3 with OSD will connect with your video system by taking the “Video out” of your camera system, connecting to the “Video In” on the OSD Expander. The OSD expander will composite the on screen display text into the video stream – The “Video Out” on the OSD is then connected to your video transmitter.

All sounds good to me, can't wait to try it out

Ive uppdated the software/firmware on all units and installed the OSD, but i get "no signal" on the Seagull, only if i remove the OSD and connect the tx antenna back as usual i get a bridge between the units.

Anyone else with similar problems?

When you got nothing else to do...

Heres how i made my connections, the composite servo plug will be replaced by a yellow Video plug, that means i have a y-cable with one minijack for dslr, and one composite for video, then i wont have to change between different cables all the time...

You should make some of these too Bill, im sure there are others that would like to have the same solution

Hi All,

First, I apologize for not responding to posts. For some reason, notification emails still only sporadically reach me.

Yes, the OSD Expander will work fine with still cameras, as long as the video out of the camera is accessible as a "composite" NTSC or PAL signal. I have not encountered a recent still camera that doesn't support this. The OSD will take the video in from the camera, and provide a video output that has the same image as the camera, with our data superimposed.

Regarding cable hookup to a still camera, there are a couple of options: if the camera has an expansion cable that goes to RCA, our "RCA to servo" cable can be used, or you can just cut the RCA or proprietary video connector off your camera's cable and install a male servo plug.

Regarding simultaneous use of Seagull wireless and OSD, we have reproduced a problem, and it's due to a firmware timing bug when both the Seagull transmitter and the OSD are connected simultaneously. We are working on this now and will have a firmware update posted soon for download.

Finally, I wanted to let you know that we have announced a "Pro" version of the OSD board, which has quite a few new features:

http://www.eagletreesystems.com/press/OSD-PRO.pdf

Note that we are offering a low cost upgrade option for those who have bought the standard OSD expander already or in the near future.

Wow, now were talking Bill!
Thats a huge step up...

I wonder, is the levelizer instrument accumulated servo movements, or is it base on a magnetic compass structure?

And last, when do you expect the firmware for OSD to be ready, cant use it without the firmware

Hey, I got the notification email this time!!

Daytona, thanks for the kind words!

The firmware fix for using simultaneous Seagull telemetry and OSD should be posted this coming week. Note that you can use one or the other right now by just disconnecting the OSD when you need to use the wireless. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bill, for Eagle Tree

Hi Daytona,

Sorry about that. Version 6.74 has fixes for almost everthing BUT the simultaneous seagull + OSD issue.

I'm trying to complete that fix today.

Hey Bill,

I got the v3 elogger and OSD, since getting the OSD the V3 would only work for a few seconds before the light started flashing real quick and then no recording/display.

After some research of the instructions it looks like i needed the
battery backup cable (even without the GPS it still cut out). Now I got the backup cable plugged in between my rx supply and the USB connector on the V3 elogger, the V3 works ok, BUT... the voltage and mAh displayed on the OSD is the 6v from the rx, not the 40v from the flight pack!

How do I fix this?

Ben.... "what goes up, must come down!"

Daytona, latest version 6.75 is posted, which fixes the simultaneous Seagull Telemetry + OSD issue with recorders. Here's the link:

http://www.eagletreesystems.com/Lat.../beta/setup.exe

Ben, I'm surprised by that. Are you sure the 40V pack is connected to the eLogger? The eLogger should always show the voltage of the main input.

Thanks Bill

Ben, could it be a grounding issue?
I had that with my FDR and 43.8v packs..

Just a thought

Wow! That pro version is pretty cool. Since I hadn't ordered the first OSD yet, I'll just order this one instead. I keep collecting pretty much everyones OSD's for some reason.

Hey Bill, one of the other OSD's allow the use of the Garmin Summit GPS that stores a lot of waypoints. Great for Garmin but the OSD doesn't allow for changing waypoints to nav to. Any chance that we could eventually have the ability to select waypoints from a list while in flight or better yet, select a flight plan? Imagine having the ability to race a course, RENO style, with some buddies. Also, maybe consider some sort of TCAS. The Rhino GPS has the ability to show the location of another Rhino.

Yeah, I'm dreaming but these are things that are already here but not in one package. You guys seem to have the bull by the horns right now and so it seems that maybe you are the ones to pull it off.

I'd pony up big for this one. I have your Eagle Tree Pro installed on my machine and that wasn't cheap with all the accessories. Darn good stuff though and worth every penny. Keep up the good work!

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

Bill,
If I disconnect the battery backup cable, connect the flight battery, then quickly re-connect the battery backup (before the V3 shuts down) then it reads the 43v. It seems to read whichever power supply is connected first It's a pain in the neck having to keep swapping wires round to display the correct voltage.

Chris, What sort of grounding issue did you have?

Daytona, it's odd - I've had two separate reports of this, but I installed the software on another PC here this morning and got 6.75.

Regardless, I reposted the version. Could you also remove Eagle Tree under control panel/add-remove to see if that could be causing the issue?

Ben, is it possible that you are reading this off the PowerPanel, and that you have the PowerPanel set up to automatically display the lowest encountered voltage? Does the display show "<downarrow>4.xy" or similar? If so, that would indeed explain it, if you are connecting the backup cable before the flight battery.
