Apparently the 65's pull a bit more juice and will overheat the ESC. With the separate BEC it take a bit of load off by powering the RX desperately... I haven't experienced it myself but thought I'd play it safe. I will tell you after a full flight my ESC is barely warm.

bad gyro

Hi Lekefly

There are a few things that might cause the gyro to act the way it is.

I've had a few problems with my blade 400 out of the box. The first blade 400 crash was because the elevator (forward cyclic) servo jammed full on in a hover on its second flight.

Second crash I lost orentation. 3rd crash tail servo failed. It would work randomly the just stop.

Call Horizon Hobby and they will look after you but it may be that you need your servo reversed in the radio or on the gyro. Or it may be just a few clicks of trim. Its in the manual.

I reccommend highly to most Blade owners :

1. Slow down the head speed out of the box or get carbon blades. 2900 (f Mode)head speed on wood covered blades is asking for trouble! Even at the base mode 2400 head speed is high. I used my pitch curve to slow mine down.

2. Replace all the servo's the best fit for the money I have found is the hightech 65 carbon gears. I don't mind gears breaking in a crash becuase the are easier to replace than some of the other parts.

3. Concencus is to replace the gyro as well. the 401 is a good choice and Jr makes a good one as well. I used the fut gy240 as it was hanging around my bench and was free.

To be honest I am amazed at the weird electronic problems I have encountered with this heli. Wish They would charge $50 more and put in a reliable servo and gyro. Not fancy ones Just reliable!

The rest of it seems really well made and thought out So I am pleased with the little heli!
