e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > Swift 16 Ballance?

Hello Everyone...

I just purchased a swift 16 not too long ago and finally found the time to start setting it up. I am not able to even come close to getting this thing to ballance. I have a 6s pack hanging in front of the canopy and the thing is still too tail heavy. I have to be missing something here. Do I need to use a flight pack to get it closer? HOw do they ballance for everyone else?

Thanks,
ERic

How did you mount the 6s

I have a 4s that barely slides between the bottom of the canapy and the lower tray. If I move it clear forward my Swift 16 will balance up. I put a 12" ruler on edge and place it under the lower tray and figure the balance should be under the main shaft. I just got a 6s and about the only place it will go is under the main gear and between the landing gear. It seems like your setup would make the nose heavy.

IF battery does not fit under canopy...this has to be trimmed accordingly...it originally was NiCd flat pack friendly

Some of us use an Rx 4cell batt in front tray which helped and its optional as others use an UBEC (but does not do much for balance)

Check some of our galleries for electronic placements.

Thanks for the info... I think I may go with a 4 cell pack and then see where it ends up. I can understand if this thing was originally designed for Nicads and such.

when i was using a 5s lipo pack ... i too used to have issues trying to get the CG right.

i had moved all my electronics to the front, including the gyro (which didn't work for me, i was getting interference from the ESC/motor). i then moved the gyro back, but moved the lipo pack even further infront - it over hung a bit (from the battery tray).

this worked out fine for me ... had to cut the canopy a bit though.

now, i am using 10s a123 ... mounted similar to trex 600. no problem with CG at all ...

cheers, khan

I cut away the bottom of the canopy (leaving the sides and front) to accomodate a number of different battery packs from 4 to 6.

Hello everybody,

Same as Oldfart, I have cut the lower part on my Swift 4s and on my Swift 6s canopies, as shown on the attached picture....

Best regards,
Gilles

Yours are not quite like mine. I leave the sides and front of the lower "scoop" on mine. This helps conceal the battery.

Also I use a seperate flight pack RX battery which is mounted up front under the canopy. This helps keep the C/G forward.

I guess once I switch to A123 I wont have a problem. The only way I can get it to ballance out is to hang my 6s pack off the front like the pics provided and use a 4 cell receiver pack. I can't wait to set it up and fly. This is my first Century prodoct, and so far for the price I am very happy with it.
