e-Century Hummingbird - Swift > Swift 16 motor / Fuse set up

Greetings All,
Was wondering what motors would work in the swift 16? I will be putting it in a fuse, the A109 Coast Guard from century, it wont be flown 3D but am wondering what motor / Pinion / Batt combination may give me the most flying time, I will also be swinging 550mm main blades on it.

Thanks in advance for any response on this.

600a century motor,9 tooth pinion,cc pheniox 60 amp esc, 6s setup, evo light fp 4250 batts,5 minutes fligh flown medium or 4.5 flown hard.

I have over 500 flights on that setup. It works.I run 550, or 570 blades.

Great Thanks,

Now if I can find a Swift 16 in good shape used that would be nice.

Any one have one they would like to part with for a Reasonable price?

Jones,
I've upgraded to a Swift Carbon550 and a Trex600 so I've got a sweet Swift 16 with literally 3 flights on it I want to sell. It's just the airframe and blades (the stock woodies and some RT carbon 515s if you'll need them), no electronics. There are a couple of strategic metal upgrades. I'm in a small apartment right now and its just taking up space.

Let me know and I'll make you a sweet deal.

Mike

i never owned the 600 motor, but have had several Neu motors.

i think for scale purposes Neu might be better suited. they are not only quite powerful but extremely efficient.

if you gear it correctly, you will get long fight times. just to give you an example ... with my 1907/1.5y and a 5s lipo setup ... i used to get around 8 minutes (but my blades were shorter ... 515-530s)

currently i am using neu 1910 - which is more appropriate for longer blades. i can't tell you

if i were to choose for a scale setup ... i would pick neu over any other motor, mainly for it's efficiency

if you do a bit of research you will find out how good the Neu motors are

cheers, khan

Khan,
Thanks for the feedback I will look into that set up also, Do you have a good source for the Neu motors?

i have a neu 1910 and 2 1907's and a century 600 and 2 650's, and my personal test's show the 650 motor to be more effeciant in a 600 size bird then the 1910, at a cost of slightly less power.for instance in my phazor 600 the 1910 on 10s will fly 3min 40 sec at 2200 and the 650 century motor on 10s will get 5 minutes plus with only slightly less power.same battery for both.and headspeed.

however in a light heli like a swift 16 i'm suere the 1910 flight times would be much better.

for instance i have 2 1907 8s setupsone was in the phazor and now is in a trex 600 and at 7 pounds and 2350 i get 4 min on a 3700 8s pack.

the same motor and esc in my swift 16 at 6 pounds and 550 blades gets me 5 min on 3200 8s pack running 2300 headspeed and it has more pop. however the trex tracks better and is considerably easier to fly.

i know very little about scale, but centuryman ... i think the HS you are running is very different from what he is looking for.

i think a HS of 16-1800 is what he is looking for (since it is not for 3d), and that is what i was running on my 5s/1907 setup (with 530s). so, with a 1910 ... swinging 550s at around that HS, he should get fairly long flight. and it will be smooth, scale like

cheers, khan

PS i usually get it directly from their site: www.neumotors.com

Yes I like to keep the HS in the 1600 or so range for flying scale like. Just don't need the High HS for doing scale flying.

So Yes this is the HS range I am trying to get help with as far as motor, pinion, batt size, for the longest flight times with 550mm blades.

for 6s, Neu 1910/1.5y i would use the following calculation as a guide:

6s x 3.7 v x 680kv = 15,096 RPM
15096 x 12 tooth = 181,152 rotation tooth/minute
181,152/96 main gear = 1887 head speed (ideal)
1,887 * 0.92 efficiency = 1,736 actual head speed

i would use 11 - 12 tooth, maybe a Jazz ... which might give a bit longer flight time. 11T will give you a head speed slightly less than 1,600.

cheers, khan
