HIROBO Freya - Sceadu - Shuttle > My Evo 50 blade grip linkage rod pops out

My Evo 50 blade grip linkage rod pops out in the middle of the flight. I am lucky that I am just doing low hovering and is able to bring it down in one piece. Upon investigation, I find the linkage rod is so loose that I can just use one single hand to pop it out without much effort. I cannot imagine what will happen if it is up in the sky. This now becomes part of my routine checkup.

Does anyone of you have this happened before?

yes, did you buy it used or new. replace them and the ball.
just so you know the link that go to the grip is shorter then the rest of the links on the heli.

How do you measure success, One empty gal at a time..

In my experience, that's something that happens over time, usually. Repedatedly taking the link off and reinstalling it could enlarge the edge that holds the link on. Dirty balls () can wear down the link too. Links should be considered a consumable item and replaced as needed. The balls can wear down too but I rarely have seen that as a problem. Nothing to be alarmed about but definately should be on the preflight checklist.

If you are talkiing about the rod coming out of the ball link, that happens a lot when someone tried to cut down a standard link to fit in the place of a shorter one.

It has been my experiance that the ball its self will wear as much or more than the link. Compared to Nylon, steel has worse wear properties. Alumiinum is much worse. I think Hirobo uses a lot of nickle and chrome in the mix for their balls, so they last a long time. The worst ones were the ones on thr raptor V1's. They would wear out much faster than the link, especially the tail.

I came, I saw, I hovered

I had the tail pushrod pop off the ball at the tail bellcrank. YES, in flight! I was absolutely amazed I got it down in one piece. Was pirouetting pretty good by the time I hit the throttle hold. At first I thought I had another 9254 take a crap. Then closer inspection revealed the link had popped off of the ball. Then even closer inspection revealed the ball was shot. Wasn't even round anymore. I replaced both the ball and the clevis. Then I checked the same link on my son's EVO 50. It wasn't too far behind mine. Very sloppy. And again, 95% of the wear was in the ball, not the clevis. Something to keep an eye on. About 4 seasons of flying on each heli. I need to have a serious chat with the guy who did the last Annual Inspection. And also have a serious chat with the guy that did the pre-flight inspection. Problem is, it's the same guy. He knows better now though.

Replace the worn parts. Simple.
