The 11/93 combo ROCKS w/ the OS91!!! I was impressed with the 12/93, blown away with the 11-tooth pinion...

Hirobo

I would like to say that the next heli that I will buy will be a Hirobo, and the main reason is because of the customer support that has been given by all the rep's that have tried to help with everyone's problems. This is good business but it is also good for the promotion of the hobby. If there was this kind of support from other manufactures, it would really be great. Don't get me wrong, I not knocking the other manufactures because there is support, however Hirobo has taken it to a new level.

Ok, Now that the official 11 tooth is out, what is THE official best gear ratio for an OS91?

I asked before and got 12/95 for an answer I think. But new day, another upgrade, etc. etc. Doesn't sound like you can go wrong either way. I think I will use a muffler instead of a tuned pipe due to my governor. Unless it is sacrilege not to get that last little bit of power.

I have had two Freya 91's since June. I'm well past 45 gallons with them... I started out with the 12/93...it was OK, but nothing compared to the 11/93. If you do the math, its common sense that the 11/93 combo puts the engine nearer its optimum rpm than the other gear ratios. This is considering a 1750-1800 headspeed.

The neat thing about the 12 tooth is that the engine is church mouse quiet, however...I think that also tells you that the engine isn't giving its all...

Either way, you'll be impressed with the engine's power and fuel consumption. I don't think the YS80 is doing as well... Everyone at our field who had both, got rid of the YS80's.

I ran the 60 size muscle pipe for a while, it had a little blurp in transition when I unloaded the head, that I didn't like. BUT it had noticeably more power than the hatori! Even on 15%. Not that you'd need more power.... My friend lengthened a CY Muscle pipe and it ran a lot smoother and has tons of power. So, when Mr. Youngblood graces us with the 91 size MP...Lookout! I could not use the governor with the 60 size muscle pipe, but my buddy uses his with and without the governor with his bigger pipe.

If I ever run into any of you guys at a Funfly, I'd be more than happy to let you take one of the 91Freya's for a spin...

12/95

I have been using the 12/95 ratio for quite awhile with my .91's and running an 1850 to 1900 head speed with good results as well. Myself, I like the way it flys. Sounds no louder than the 1750 head speed, but reacts much more aggressively. All Hirobo heads are rated to 2000. Anything above that is a no no.

I guess each to their own, and no, because its new does not make it right. Just another alternative.

ampex456,
Well thats what is in the 90 kits so thats what I'll use. I want to be within Hirobo's specs. Thanks for the help. I have been gone all weekend so I am just now replying.

DrScoles,
I had the same experiance with my governor and pipe. I am leaning towards a muffler for that reason. I bought this governor so I may as well use it. But with a pipe on the 60, I think I do better with the governor off.
