The 617 uses a different (newer?) chipset. Probably ran out of the old stock and found it cheaper just to make all 7ch Rx 617s.

its all about the logical channel grouping.

The 607 was sending signals in normal sequence to the servos i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. THe 617 is sending the signals like 6,1,2,3,4,5,7 so that Ail,Elv,PIt are close together eliminating some swash dancing some users were experiencing.

Of course Futaba won't confirm it but it has been verified by several members around RR

Actually, it's 7, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Come on guys, the 6,1,2 is the important part. The original question was largely rhetorical. FASST is evolving rather quickly. I'm still waiting for DSM3 with all of the fail-safes.

Why couldn't they just get it right the first time?

Tony:

If I'm not mistaken.. back in March Futaba Acknowledge the difference between the 607 and 617.

Oh they did did they? I guess they couldn't keep it quiet anymore. That change was spread through the internet prior to march by the time when futaba announced a "minor" supplier change.

Well, if you take into account that a few months ago the BLS451 were not ok for heli use during a week or so, I'm not suprised

Originally, it was only a component change, then someone in Germany put a scope on it and we know the real story....
