Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > Century Hawk IV linkage setup HELP

I am putting my Hawk IV together and was having difficulties with the ball link lengths. It would appear that the pushrod J (aileron to swash plate) that is supposed to be 62mm (or 61mm i dont have this stuff with me) in the instructions is too long for the 25mm supplied threaded rod. I hav not yet installed servos (they arent here yet) but just placing the blade grips and flybar into zero pitch and observing wher the control input arms end up, it doesn't seem right. and yes, I am using the addendum to the instructions. I like the kit, but this kind of put a sour note on things.

Does anyone have the correct linkage lenghths for a BEGINNER set up?

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks,

Haven't gotten that far yet but will soon. I did notice that the balls that were sent with my kit don't really match the instructions. For example in one area it says to use a small ball but the bag of parts only has a medium in it. Also some of the screws are of different type than in the instructions.

Odlaw is correct

You are correct... Mine had different typse of screws than mentioned in the instructions and as I recall, a few of the wrong colored balls. The ones supplied, though they caused a small amount of confusion do work where they are installed though.

This linkage thing can cause some real problems during set up. As it is now, with everything set according to the addendum sheet, and unless I am a complete idiot (which is entirely possible), I will have ALOT of negative pitch with only a little bit of positive before the collective runs out of travel.

Like I said before, I am still pretty happy with the kit and the product, but a little disappointed in the packing quality controls.

Hawk Setup

I had the same problem when I was setting the pitch. My buddy told me to use the 3D lengths. I changed them over and had no problem getting the correct pitch for beginner.

Using 3d pitch

Yes,

I have been looking at the control rod lengths and using the 3d lengths seems like it might work better. I am going to try it according to the instructions and if that doesn't seem right, will try that.

I have also been in contact (e-mail) with Century Technical support and they responded back within 24 hours. He asked that I check it again, which is a little annoying, because before I started crying to him and this board, I checked and double checked.

The real issue is that the supplied threaded rod supplied in my kit (25mm rod) is simply not long enough to allow a control rod length end to end of 61mm (or 62mm cant remember) and give me any confidence as to its strength.

Thansk for the response,

rod lengths

I just measured mine, they are 61mm (be sure you are measuring from the outside of each link to the outside of the other). The rod is 25mm and each link is 23mm in length. this would give a total of 71mm. Consequently, you can thread each link in 5mm.
