| more work coming along. like Don Henley says, i've trying to get down to the heart of the matter. well i finally got somepics of the heart of this 58D. here are some of the things i did to this poor raptor to get things to work. the throttle servo was relocated aft of the frames. the tailrotor servo is just behind it mounted to the boom
the reciever has a new spot as well. a threaded aluminum spacer mounted to the sideframes has a bit of lite ply on the other end which allows it to be mounted with rubber bands. convenient and easy to get to
on this side, (right rear) of the frames, the servo for fore/aft enjoys its new home. right underneath it, is the servo that moves the ball left and right. this servo was retired from flight controls and had all the electronics removed. the motor and geartrain is allthat remains and all it does is turn. the removed detent alows it tocontinually turn with an arm that goes to the ball control lever.
this shot shows the gearing and the bal control lever. since the servos travel only give me so much throw, i forund it necesary to create a geared device which increases the ratio togive me a full 180 degrees of travel. plenty to be noticable
this little deal is still experimental but a way to help quiet things as well as divert the exhaust where i want it to exit the fuse. it is all contructed from construction paper laminated with thin ca several thicknesses and then fuelproofed with finishing resin. so far, it has held up to four tankfulls. hey, you gotta experiment with things
