Hey guys,

I just finished up a new Evo 90 and want to install a lipo to run the radio. I found a little regulator from Losi that puts out 6v @ 5 amp continuous. I am running Hitec 5625's on cyclic/collective and the 401/9254 gyro. Any thoughts on how close to 5 amps the radio will draw will mild sport flying? The last thing I want to do is burn up the regulator in flight.

Check the current draw graph out.

Cool, if a raptor is pulling 4 amps at most, I should be ok. I think I figured out how to wire up an ammeter inline with the battery to watch in real time how much current is being pulled.

I've had success with Duralite regulators. They advertise 7.5 amps. The high current version has a deans connector with 16 gauge wire for the battery. The standard version uses JR connectors.

Simple things amuse simple minds.

Hi
You could use one of these http://www.rc-electronic.com/html/e...h/englisch.html . Very high end produkts.Have been using them since years also in RC jets never missed a beat. DPSI RV Micro family !

Thanks for the input guys. I wired up my multimeter in series with the battery and averaged 1.5 to 2 amps cycling the servos statically. With a bit of load on each one I saw no more than 2.5, so for the moment I feel safe using the losi regulator. Obviously I can't accurately simulate flight loads, but by holding a servo or two and cycling the others at least I get an idea of the current draw. I'd like to get into the fromeco setups, but they are a bit pricy yet. I do like the cool pin flag switches though!
