i needed to replace my jr3810 tx which is 5 years old and the fear of the internal battery dying. so 12 x got my choice which should work for the next 5 to 8 years ( being top of the line JR radio, it will also allow me to explore further with 12 channels )

so there you have it.. i love the 12x but the programming takes time to learn.. and get use too... coming from a 8 channel tx.

Do you fly scale? if not, what are you going to use 12 channels for?

Alcohol may leave you wondering what the hell you did with your bra and panties.....Burrp!!

I'm going to wait until they bring out a 16 channel model and fly 2 heli's at once

fuse,

I see they sell a little bit different looking version over seas.

It is a 12 PCM...do they not sell the 2.4 Ghz? SAD if they don't...or is it both.

MRMOOG,
I believe there is a 16 channel and 22 channel that is been out for some time...just can't remember who.

yeah its not a 2.4, its a apcm version, japan domestic model with japanese manuel. And the switches are different as well, its also a air model so the switches are a little different and i'm a mode 1 flyer. Bought this radio for my sailplanes as the old radio cant do much programming.
When horizon comes out the 2.4g module for the 12x, i will get it so i can have duel usage. And currently i can still use back all my pcm jr receivers.. Best of both worlds.
I also have a dx6 that i fly park flyers and with the 12x 2.4g module means i can also use back my ar6000 rx. Cool. Thats is the main reason why i did not get the 2.4 12x.
My sail planes are carbon also not 2.4 friendly.

fuse, Is the pcm12x has model change option?
I wanna change pcm12x from model1 to model2.
and dont's know how.
I see the 9303 or 9xii has factory setting.
Anyone knows how to enter 12x's factory setting to
change model 1 to model 2?

There are 3 direct things I wanted over the 9303 2.4. Was it worth the extra $1000 (the price of 3 9303? Later on that.

1) I wanted a backlite screen
2) I wanted timers on sticks and switches
3) I wanted servo slow on the heli side for my bell 222 retract setup

Add to that useful things I like about the features plus the ones listed by tauscnc.

I also like planks (sorry but I fly em for a living!) mainly heli's however.
so.
4) The ability to fly a twin with seperate trims for twin engine throttle setups to sync engines.
5) balance two servo's onto one large surface (you can adjust one servo at various points over it's throw to equal the other one and prevent them working agaist one another)
6) I want a beep at 0 degrees pitch for my 3D flying. You can even put a beep at the right pitch for auto's if you want to.
7) Electronic cyclic ring (so i can use the radio for planks without having to remove the plastic cyclic ring...being a big believer in cyclic rings for heli's from a purely mechanical point of view I like this feature!)
8) Better ccpm adjustment features (like elevator pitch mixing etc)
9)More switch assigability than the DSX9/9303
10) I don't want a touch screen! can't stand finger prints on glass...LOL

Oh and it helps at times to have 12 channels depending on your use. Scale and jets would be the most likely but it would truly suck if i wanted to have a lash at one of these in the next few years but was stuck with 9 channels and limited options. If you only fly 3 d helis then yep.....you dont really need it.

Helinutnz,

Good points added!!! The radio really does seem to have almost all of the features covered.

Due to the 12X having an analogue throttle trim, you cannot change stick modes yourself.

It can be done back at Distributor level (or should be !).... the 10X is exactly the same, that comes as either Mode 1 or Mode 2 but can be converted without too much trouble (approx 45 minutes).

If you opt for a lipo battery, could the warning low voltage level be changed ??? :-)

I am disappointed with the case. After having the radio turn up probably crashing and banging around in the back of a truck I was a bit peeved to find the radio "strapped" to a non shockproof "board" covered in material with foam at the front and back of the radio. The antenna was pushed hard into the foam in the lid. I would have prefered to have seen just a bit better treatment of this expensive piece of equipment from JR. Like a proper foam cutout to securely mount the radio in (especially for transport)
I can imagine the radio being strapped to the "board" which sat hard onto the lower box holding the receivers etc. The case was put in a box. the box in another box....bigger so well protected on the sides but no shock proofing from the base so any jolts would have gone straight into the radio case and the radio would have felt every one.

The radio works and thats great. Just getting to know it. Hope it keeps going. I guess they are pretty hardy and I suppose it's come all the way from Japan like that. Nothing to do with the shop I bought it from....they were fantastic. Come on JR....thats a crap way to secure a radio like this.

I'm disappointed with the case as well. Particularly because my regular "carry everything" case isn't thick enough to fit the 12X with that antenna.

So I made myself a new case.

This case fits in the overhead bin in an airplane. Not that I'd do that. It's probably too heavy. Got the pickup truck anyway.

Been cycling my battery. The first time I charged it with the provided charger. It made my batteries quite warm....like leaving it on for 24 plus hours like it says in the manual was not an option. This may be fine after the batteries are initialised but I'd be careful with the charger. I used my pocketlader for the next charge. Discharged it to 1 volt per cell and then NIXX charge and got 1756 MAH back into it (@200 ma rate) The nixx charge goes for 14 hours and the current contines to drop till it's only putting in 50ma to top off the batteries and equalise them.
Then I discharged them to 1 volt per cell. Then the second NIXX charge is running still. It's showing 1950 MAH with 1.5 hours to run and it's down to 50MA again so it will get 2025 mah on this charge.
Then I'll do it once more but I'll Discharge down to .9 volts per cell and NIXX charge @250MA.

That will get these batteries running nicely. From the factory they need sorting out. At least mine did anyway. I am sure the stock charger would be fine after this but I won't use it as I have the triton and the pocketlader.

My 12X has big problem!!

I've just got my 12X yesterday, and today when I'm studing the functions of it, the screen suddenly went off...and just left the backlight. All other SWs and functions seems ok, but I can't see anything on the screen...I tried many times of switch off and on...

Some times the screen will back on display for few seconds and went off again, I'm so upset with this problem...just two days......

Does anyone has the same problem as my 12X?

I have no problem like that with mine. Sounds like a defective unit. I'd send it back.

Thanks for your suggestion! For sure I'll send it back!!
I just can't believe the QC department of JR will let a defective unit put on the market...
