On the issue of Lipo transmitter batteries:

The transmitter is supposed to run for 8 hours on the 2000 mah Nimh battery installed in it.

Other than quick charging and weight, what is the advantage?

Thank you in advance.

The Lithium pack does not discharge over time where as the NiMh pack discharges by itself even if you leave it sitting around with the transmitter off. I had no idea regarding JRs position on lithium packs though. I have been running a 3S pack on my DX7 for about 6 months now with no issues. However this gives me something to think about. Switching back to the NiMh pack should be a pretty easy transition though...

Eyefly,

Thank you for the answer.

The self discharging aspect of NIMH had totally slipped my mind (even though I still use them in some airplanes and know full well that they discharge, just sitting on the shelf).

That did not even occur to me.

Is it possible to transfer data between 9303-2,4ghz and 12X 2,4Ghz, or do i have to set up my whole fleet once more?

There is no way to transfer the data between the 9303 and the 12X. You will have to set up each of your models again.

-The throttle curve seems to be designed to have the mechanical throttle trim all the way down, on my x9303 its based off of having the trim in the center.(maybe this can be changed somewhere on the 12x)

Yes I experienced this myself today going from a X9303 to the 12X. Can someone explain it? How are you supposed to cut the throttle?

Thanks

David

David,

Move the trim all the way down to cut the throttle.

Yes, you have to set up your throttle curve so that 0% on the curve kills the engine. On the 9303 you could set up 0% or some value close for an idle and have the engine cut with a negative value when you pulled the trim down. Can't do that on the 12X.

As I use electrics only and prefer to have the trim in the center so I turned the throttle trim step to zero. The throttle trim no longer does anything and the throttle curve requires no changes to stay linear.
I know this doesn't help the nitro guys but could be useful for electric people who want the trim in the center for there models.

It may also be useful when switching between electric and nitro. Disabling the throttle trim is a good way to go for electrics when switching from a nitro to an electric model so you don't need to worry about the throttle trim location.

Yes I figured it out, but I wonder why JR made the change?

Yes, I agree and I've done the same thing.

Guys, in the warning function under the system menu are choices for AX21 and AX22. What exactly are those?

"Yes I figured it out, but I wonder why JR made the change?"

The 10X is setup the same way, the throttle trim is set full down. So this isn't really a change unless you have been flying using a 9303

What advantages do people find when using the latest radio? Sometimes i find people buy 'New Hardware' just to be the first at their club to own it and have the wow factor just to be the centre of attention.

If your a top end factory flyer then yes, promote the top end components thats what you do, but a club flyer has no use for it.

People who get into this game of buying the latest gadgets sure run the risk of getting into debt, how many of you out there have lied to a partner of how much you have spent on an item at the heli shop?.....and did it improve your flying ability.....I've loaded the bullets who want to fire the gun?

Alcohol may leave you wondering what the hell you did with your bra and panties.....Burrp!!

I'll fire.

Many will buy this radio not for "bragging rights" but because they simple just want it. Many will buy it and never use most of it's features. People like to have the "newest" technogy (look at all the crazy cell phones etc.; and many pay big money to have them) and this is no different. While I agree it seems "over priced" especially when you compare it to the 9303 it does have some nice features.

What will be goofy is for a newbie to buy one or that guy that just buys it but never reads the manual or ever understands how to use it...you know the ones.

Will it make you a better flier, NO, no radio, chopper, metal part, blades, engine, servos, etc. will. Just good old practice.

There are 3 direct things I wanted over the 9303 2.4. Was it worth the extra $1000 (the price of 3 9303? Later on that.

1) I wanted a backlite screen
2) I wanted timers on sticks and switches
3) I wanted servo slow on the heli side for my bell 222 retract setup

Did I lie for the radio, no, no reason too.. if someone thinks buying something like this and lying is better, help them when she does find out

I love the radio. Hands down it is awesome. Just a few finer points missed but for the most part Very nice. Eyed it the min. info was released, been in the hobby now 21 years (yikes!), and it was time to have the top of the line.

I see this as my last radio for quite sometime

Some of the mixes in the radio are very nice and will help in figuring out interaction you cannot do mechanically. Other parts of the radio are just pure bling bling bling.

Everytime I turn on the radio and see the backlite screen I am a kid in a candy shop.

So is it overpriced, well considering what it does, 12 channels, 2.4 Ghz, no freq. issues, works out of the box, looks nice, warrantee, etc...No, but comparing it to other stuff, sure. It just depends on what you compare it to.

Are some helis overpriced (at least I know I won't crash my TX unless I drop it ? Are the Hatori mufflers overpriced (YES, that I can truly say yes too!), are the OS 91 size engines at $400 overprice, is that sparton blue tooth gyro gizmo at $109 overpriced (I think so, again yes) ???

So yes and no on the overpriced...but I have to admit when I turn it on I do forget the price.

You only live once right??...did I mention it is freaking awesome.
