| Let us know how does the radio feels and your first impressions after the flight?

Took the two helis I've programmed so far, a 600N and an N9, out back for a couple of flights with the 12X. Coming from a 9303 with Spektrum module, these are my observations so far -
The radio feels very solid in my hands. It feels just as well built, if not better, than the 10X. It is noticeably heavier than the 9303, but in a good way. Unfortunately it doesn't balance with a neckstrap any better than the old radios when you removed the antenna. I had to use the Spektrum adapter to get it to balance properly.
The gimbals feel very good and are ultra-smooth. As I posted earlier, I can't get them quite as loose as I am accustomed to so it did feel slightly different to me in that regard, but I'm sure I will get used to it in no time.
I was using the R921 in both helicopters, and everything felt a little more responsive with the 12X compared to the 9303. Both helicopters felt more locked in and seemed to do exactly what a asked, almost before I asked. I'm sure it's the doubled resolution that is making the difference.
The timers are not loud enough. As I was setting up the radio on the bench I thought they seemed plenty loud. At the field however, I didn't hear them once. I even set both timers so they would sound 15 seconds from one another. Never heard either one during any of my flights - and it was not windy outside either. I guess I'm just going to have to train myself to listen for them a little harder.
All in all I'm very pleased. I don't think it's going to make me a better pilot, but at least I'll feel good walking out to the flight line. |
