The programming with the rolling selector is taking me a bit of time to get used to, but works very well (I don't think I will miss the touch screen quite as much as I thought I would).

Yeah, I was wondering about the rolling selector as I had not used it before. But I must say I like it a lot. I think it's very intuitive and quick. Love how you can scroll through values so fast.

I really don't mind the scrolling selector, and it is pretty quick most of the time. Changing values on pitch and throttle curves does take a while though.

On the case above the LCD, there are some writing "FUNCTION 3-4-0-4?". This is for the old 10X right, with the touch screen? That is some magic code for progamming the Tx? Also can you please post more pics, especially the eyebrow trim. Do you find it useful, the eyebrow trim?

Have not messed around with the eyebrow trims yet but they are in a good place physically- easy to reach and feel very solid when you click them.

Wow, I thought it was pretty fast myself.

Since they didn't release an Airplane/Heli specific version of this radio, does the TX come with the notched throttle or is it smooth for helis?

It's super smooth. Feels very nice. I've seen some airplane guys complaining about it on other forums. Thankfully better minds prevailed and it's not ratcheted.

Wow. Thanks for the fast reply. From the "side" pics, the eyebrow trim appears to be quite a big chunk of plastic (which is good). I've been looking at front view mostly and I though it was a very small wisp of eyebrow. Also the labels (between top switches and knob) seems to be removable in the pic? Is that so you can easily swap them to the other side?

Any pics of the back? Is it non module like the DSX9? Bind/range check button with LED at the back? Bind button recessed? Oh boy oh boy. Excited. If they have the radio in black, I will sell my car and buy a tuk tuk so that I can get me a 12X.

matnikon, the only DSM12X units shipping right now from Horizon are the JRP1200 model, which are the integrated non-module versions. Their is in fact a bind/range check button with LED on the back.

My understanding is that a black version of the DSM12X will not be available. The picture of a black 12X circulating around the internet was actually a PCM12X. Not sure if that one (in black) will be available to the non-USA worldwide market or not. I think Mac_Man mentioned a while ago that it was only a prototype. I agree it looked pretty cool.

Oh my. My heart skipped a beat. All black is so sexy, Darth Vader like. Imagine that with an all black short stubby antenna. Unlike Futaba, I think JR purposely designed their "On" switch to be more ah ... womanly.

According to JR Propo, getting it in Black is not an easy task. Admittedly, they could go the cheap and easy route but it would make it feel cheap & nasty.

Lou,

Manual says nothing about raising the volume of the timer beep, have you find anything that contradicts that?.

I don't know about Lou's, but there is not way to adjust the volume on mine.

One complaint I have is the gimbal tension adjustment. I can adjust from "Very tight" to "Tight". I've always preferred mine a little looser and I can't get there. I also have a very slight (but noticeable once you know its there) popping feeling on the aileron/elevator gimbal if I pull the aileron to full right stop. Probably never notice while I'm actually flying, but on the bench it's been driving me crazy. Not because it affects anything, but b/c for the price it ought to be perfect. Not sure yet whether it's enough that I will send it back for replacement. Probably not. It's just like a new car - once I get a scratch or two on it I won't care anymore.

MrMel,

hve not found a way to increase the volume, however, there is a "silent" mode.

It stops all the beeps and random noises that are heard while programming. But, you have to remember to turn it off when you are done programming your model or the alarms and trim tones will not work either.

Lou

Back off man, I'm a scientist.

How does the knobs (Aux 4 for exemple) work when shifting modelmemory?

If you have adjusted it in one memory, does that adjustment remain if you shift model, that is you always have to center them when shifting memory? I recon you can always put it in Inhold, if you don't use it but if you do.

TIA

Overall I think the volume of all the warning and info tones/beeps is very loud and actually quite a bit louder than on past JR TX's. Has anyone else noticed that? You will have no problem hearing this thing out at the field.

Some years ago, I modified a PCM set for a British manufacturer on to 459 MHz (a legal frequency over here). I test flew it for a while, then sent it back for the manufacturer to evaluate.

About 6 months later he returned it - not working! He'd rebuilt it into a new sexy black case they were trying. Could I get it to work? Could I ****! I spent HOURS trying to get the RF output stable! It was driving me mad!

Eventually I rang said manufacturer.

"That's funny!", he said, "We can't get it to work on 35 MHz either in that case!!!"

My reply was unprintable!

Perhaps that's why the black case was only a prototype?

;-)
