I have my Beam almost ready to go and have been looking through the posts trying to work out which motor/ESC combo to go with. I have flowen a mates Rex 450 with a 3550kv motor, not sure of pinion size, but H/S is down and it needs more punch. I have checked out U tube clips of scorpion HK2221-6 and 8 motors, the 6 seems to go hard but what flight times?, the 8 seems ok a bit less pop and presumably better flight times.Could I get some examples please..... of what is working for you, H/S, flight times, pinion sizes, motors etc,

Thanks heaps,cheers,
Kev

Disreguard above, have done a wider search and made a choice, 2221-8 V2 with 13t pinion and 45amp ESC.

cheers Kev

Good choice. The 6 V2 is overkill.

Glad someone else asked this question I was about to myself. Are you going to use the scorpion esc too? I've herd they are kinda heavy. I'm going to start putting my beam together this weekend once I have a rx for it.

I Have not seen the physical size of the ESC, but I believe the 45 amp is simmilar in size to a 35 amp, while the 55amp is considerably bigger/heavier perhaps more suited to a Rex 500 size heli.

I have both the -6 and -8.. If you want more punch and don't want the weight of 4S, get the -6.. I have been pleased with 11T, the Jazz gov at 3200 and 4+ minutes.

I'm going a different direction, and am going to try a Z-power Tonic-X Z10A 3700KV with an Align 35X. I use a Z20A in my Hurricane 550, and it works quite well. We'll see.
