Just wonder, is it normal with this much dust from the white pinion after 3-4 flights?

Anyone of you noticed this?

never had one

of those birds, BUT.....by looking at your picture, the belt and it's gear do not look like they are square to the drive gear. Just looks off a hair and that the bottom of your white gear is getting chewed up by the metal gear. Looks like the top of the belt drive gear needs to rock forward just a little. Worth looking at anyway.

Thx, or maybe its even better that the bottom rocks backward a little to ease any tension?

Christer,

There is a metal hub in the centre of the 'white' main gear. Check that the four bolts securing it in place are fully tightened and that the gear is not angled on the metal hub. If you loosen it up and check the hub is seated fully in the gear then tighten down the bolts in a criss cross manner bit by bit to ensure no warping can occur from one side being overtightened. (to do this open and remove the lower main mast bolt remove the three links from the bellcranks to the swash and pull up on the head. Then slide out the gear.

The other drive shaft is unlikely to be misaligned in my view.

I did have some dust for the first few flights while the gears mated up. There is no backlash adjustment on these two gears so I would imagine the tolerances are very tight and it may just 'bed in' with a few flights. If you are happy with the alignment then I would suggest you wipe the frames clean after each flight and see if things improve.

Fergus
