Guys,

Have any of you experienced your swashplate stiffining? I am about to have to replace one for the second time because the ball that is in the swash itself has gotten so stiff you can hardly move it!
Does anyone know what causes this. It has only happened on Dylan's bird ( which is flown much harder than mine) but I can't figure out why this is happening.

Any Ideas?

Check you haven't over-tightened the cap screw or grub screws on the swash.

These are used to remove play in the swash bearing as it wears & shouldn't be over-tightened.

I cannot find any of the screws you mention.

Both are on the lower ring of the swash.

The Cap Screw is at the front of the swash, just behind the anti-rotation guide bearing & screws in from the left side.

The other is a small grub screw which is located below the rear (elevator) pivot ball.

I found them. these will adjust tension on the big bearing in the swash. what I am talking about is the actual center ball that the mainshaft goes through that allows the swash to tilt while still being on the shaft. It's EXTREMELY TIGHT. I see no adjustment for it.

PS id did go ahead and loosen those other screws just to check but no change was felt in stiffness.

Found this.

Apparently some inner ring linkage balls are a little long & contact the swash ball.

CHECK before you grind

I may be wrong here, but it sounds like Carzan is saying the swash ball has stiffened up as time has gone on. Others seem to have reported it right as they pull a new one from a kit.

Mike is correct. Looks like I'm just going to have to replace it for the second time. I was really hoping someone would have some input as to how I could keep this from happening again.
