Finally got the Dyna-EX up and running, and I have to say I'm not impressed with the power.

Setup as follows:-

Actro 32-3 (555kv)
CC 110-HV in fixed endpoint mode
2 X FP 5000mah 6S packs (in good condition
11 tooth pinion
120 tooth maingear

Tached at 2050 in the hover at 100% throttle which is spot on when I do the calculations at 90% efficiency

at 1900 rpm (85% throttle) you push the stick up, and the model bogs to the point the tail starts to let go.
It doesnt even climb very quickly!
Does the same at 100% flat line throttle.

I could change the pinion for a 13 tooth one, bit unsure if that will make matters better or worse.
Any suggestions on how to get this to perform as well as a glo 90 ship?

What's your AUW and collective pitch settings?

I have a converted Century Predator that has plenty of power on 20 A123 cells (10S2P) and more than I can handle on Lipo's. I am 12.5 AUW with A123's and will punchout commandedly at my 7000 ASL. I have a Neu 1915 1Y and HV110 using 710mm Radix mains.

Have you flown with a data logger to see what's going on in flight?

Your setup should be awesome and bet your AUW is 11 or lighter.

Nice looking machine you have.

What head speed are you running?
I am also using Radix Stick Bangers as they should produce the least drag etc.
Will weigh the machine later today with packs fitted to see where its at, but its not overly heavy.
Top end pitch is about 11 I think, but even if it was overpitched, it should shoot up as the motor bogs, and it doesnt do that.
May well try a bigger pinion and drop the throttle point down to give a bit more headroom for the motor to rev.

Thats pretty close to the setup i'm running..
Synergy
Actro 32-3
124T main
11T pinion
12s 5000 TP
powerjazz
head speed apx 2050
the flying weight is close to what a nitro synergy weighs loaded with fuel. even before i went flybarless it had great preformance..
have you put a watts up or eagle tree on it to see what is going on voltage and amp draw wise?

Havnt put my eagle tree on it yet as i wired the ESC with 2 deans to save on in-line connectors, so I could only put the eagle tree in line with one of the batteries.
Would that still give me the info i need?

not sure but anything is better than guessing...
assuming it's got at least 10 and 10 degrees of pitch and dosen't weigh 13 lbs. you should get very good preformance with that power system. i haven't had the best luck with castle esc's but i was running mine in gov mode on 12s when i had my "thermal event",
been a while ago now... but if you have one (eagletree) i'd connect it and see what is going on...

Helinutz:

Our orginal E-Stratus had Actro 32-3 with 12s TP5000 with 10:1 gearing. It had CC HV110 and weighted aroud 12lbs. Head speed was around 2400 and it was scary sounding and made the glow stratus feel like a Raptor 30. If you get 6min or so of flight time, consider dropping the the gear ratio to 10.5:1 or so. Do not do 13T but see if you can do 12T.

Here is the video of above setup with 13deg pitch.
I believe the pack lasted about 4:10min or so before cutting out.

We now have Neu1915H/1.5Y. Head speed has dropped a little but the pack is good for over 5min with full loading maneuvers.

Dont know whats happened to my reply posts as I have made a couple that have disappeared.

Anyway, the update i made was that the machine is 12.6lb, which i know isnt light, but it also isnt that heavy either.(thats with packs)
+/- 10 degrees on the pitch
Gonna try the 13 tooth pinion next time I get to go flying.
That would give me 100% head speed of about 2400, which is higher than I want, so will use throttle curves to bring it down to 2050 (85%).
At least then I know I will have the headroom for the castle governor mode.
Also checked my packs and put back in 3350ma in each pack.
This was after a 7 minute gentle(ish) flight.
Low voltage after flight was 22.7, so it shows I'm not pulling the packs down too much, and also means I will probably get 7 minutes of harder flying and still use less than 80%
