Century Hawk - Falcon - Raven - Predator > TT .39 tunning help!!!

I can not get the throttle to go past 1/4 stick without the engine quitting. I know it is real rich because after a whole 2 hours messing with the needles the back plate was still cool. I started with the needle setting that were on raptor techniques; 3 low speed and 2 1/8 high speed. I know every needle setting is different based on fuel, location and temp outside. I am using 20% coolpower, and I live in Nashville, tn. At one point it was running fine, and for some stupid reason I change the settings and I can not remember them. Any needle setting will help. I do not want to get a OS because of money. So I am stuck with the TT .39. Thanks.

Adjust the LOW needle so that the engine will transition to MID throttle, then adjust the high needle for high throttle. There will be some interaction between the low needle and high needle, but adjustments of the low needle take priority!

YES, I am now able to hover. The problem was my throttle curve. I changed it to 20 40 50 60 80 and it hovers like a champ. I did have to richen up the high speed because after a few sec in the air smoke stop coming out of the muffler and at full throttle it would want to land. I ended up at 3 1/8 for the high speed needle and 3 1/4 on the low speed. It is ok now it needs to be tuned a little bit more but I am just glade to hover without wanting to shot my heli. It does start wobbling about 10 sec into the hover, and when it does it only does it for a few secs and then stops and starts again about 10 secs later. Anybody know what that might be?

head speed too low maybe? That is a pretty week curve for a 30. My late pro with os .37 was i believe 100-85-65-85-100. with +- 13 of pitch.

Your hover throttle shouldn't be any lower than 65%-75% throttle .... anything lower usually results in very low headspeed. You want to make sure that you are hovering in the Main Needle, not in the Low Needle.

tunning

All of my adjustments are from raptor techniques. It states 50% at half throttle on the throttle curve. I will play around with it some more, but it also wobbles at full throttle too, and it is at 80%. I will change it to 100% and see if that works. Your throttle curve you have is for 3d, right, or am I wrong.

I have machines setup to hover at mid stick, and machines setup to hover at 3/4 stick ..... in both cases, the hover throttle shouldn't be any lower than 60 - 75% when you hover!

The TT39 that you have should give you plenty of power and head speed when it is properly setup. Another thing that may be reducing your head speed is if you are not letting the head speed come to maximum BEFORE lifting the helicopter into the air. The mechanics are driven by a clutch, and if there is a lot of load on the head, the clutch will seriously impede the head speed from reaching it's full potential.

works

That works and it hovers good, but it is leaning out. I was able to get it to 3.5 turns on the high speed needle and it was still leaning out so I am going to try tomorrow at 4 turns. I love helis now. You can fly on a tank forever. My planes after 10 min they want to run out of gas.

Put a hotter glow plug in the engine (I usually use either an Enya #3, or a Fox RC Long .... both of these are rather hot plugs. If you are breaking in the engine, I would recommend the Fox RC Long because of it's low cost and idle bar. I use these plugs on ALL of my nitro machines, and they always are relatively easy to tune .... a cooler glow plug simply makes the engine hard to tune
