I have'nt seen any V-blades offered with flash or white tips in a while... what happened with that? I heard at one time there was some sort of warranty issue. Anybody know the story?

This is why I put on flash tape on my blades. They stopped making the silver flash tips a while ago because the "experts" said they were distracting. It's really unfortunate that they changed because of a few opinions. I could care less what the sponsored pilots say about the blades being distracting. They are not flying my helicopters. If I want my blades to change colors, I should have that option.

I found this post on helifreak by Vic Campbell:

Chris is right about the holigraphic flash. Basically we had to touch it with our fingers to apply them and when we did, the oil from our fingers was left behind. After time the oil would dissolve the silver, and the carbon would show through. We just could not warranty replace everyset of V's that had this problem. Sorry guys!!!!

So its just the holigraphic flash that has been discontinued...

Yup! They are very nice and worth the cost...

I have some 550mm v-blades on my Hawk pro that are showing the carbon through the silver flash....just a little... but the blades ROCK!

Wait a minute, so the oil can get through the blades to dissolve the silver? If that's the case, then that means the oil can get through the cores as well, do they deteriorate with time too? How long does it take?

the flash stickers ar molded IN the blades, not on the outside... he's talking about finger oil damaging the holographic and making it somewhat transparent. Finger oils shouldn't hurt carbon fiber though?

That's right.... gloves. Seems like a lame excuse. No need to warrantee them as they work great no matter how they look.

Seriously, come on now, would you buy blades from anyone using bare fingers? I don't care if they're Jesus walking on water and making blades at the same time, oil in the layup is a huge enemy and I don't know of anyone who would do it barehanded considering the epoxy toxicity risks of sensitization and such. Anyone go 'no really, what's the real reason'??

Are these things being manufactured out of country and the sweatshop doesn't allow the expense of gloves or WHAT?

Jag, those look SIC !!!

Do you have to clear coat over them to keep them on, even on the electric machines. I only ask because I would think the leading edges would start to peel up.

Thanks.

Nice looking blades, JAG
I had the eagle head set, but they now hang on the wall of shame.

Here's a sample.

I have a few sets of Vblades without flash tips.
